Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2: Elizabeth Debicki Cast for Sequel by David Fincher
Alongside Brad Pitt, Scott Caan will also appear in "The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth"
We recently learned the surprising news that a sequel to Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" will be made. The movie will probably be released under the title "The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth". The character of Booth is played by Hollywood star Brad Pitt, who will once again take on the leading role. Industry portal The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that more actors have been cast for the project.
Elizabeth Debicki
One of the actors in question is Elizabeth Debicki. She celebrated her breakthrough in 2013 by appearing in the film adaptation of the literary classic "The Great Gatsby" alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. She became even better known thanks to Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" and by playing Princess Diana in the Netflix series "The Crown". She was also seen in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films.
It remains unclear which role Debicki has been cast for. However, The Hollywood Reporter suggests that there are two possible options. According to the report, the production called for two central female characters: one who runs a bar and a mud wrestling business, and one a trophy wife.
Scott Caan
They also cast Scott Caan. He has already appeared in front of the camera with Brad Pitt for the "Ocean's" movies. He is also known for his starring role in the crime series "Hawaii Five-0". He is the son of the late "The Godfather" actor James Caan.
Plot
"The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth" is set eight years after "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". In the first film, Booth was still a stuntman. In the sequel, he will now be active as a fixer in Hollywood. Fixers discreetly take care of delicate matters in the entertainment industry. Sadly, nothing more has been revealed about the plot.
But it is quite possible that Tarantino will incorporate elements of his own debut novel into his screenplay. The cult director published "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: A Novel" in 2021. It provides new details about Cliff Booth that could be the subject of "The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth".
Director and Screenplay
Production is scheduled to begin in California in July 2025. The streaming giant Netflix is behind the movie. What makes the project particularly interesting is a look at the crew behind the scenes. Quentin Tarantino will not direct the sequel, he will only write the script. Instead, the movie will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Fincher. Most film fans are familiar with Fincher from movies such as "Fight Club", "Se7en" and "Gone Girl".
We are particularly excited about the collaboration between the two Hollywood legends. After all, both have very unique cinematic styles that are not particularly similar. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the connection between the two was established by Brad Pitt. The actor has already stood in front of the camera for both of them on several occasions.
Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino
In addition to "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", Tarantino and Pitt shot "Inglourious Basterds" together. Pitt plays the role of Lt. Aldo Raine, leader of a special unit of Jewish-American soldiers in the Second World War. The film is an alternative history narrative with Tarantino's typical style of black humor and stylized violence. Today, "Inglourious Basterds" occupies a high place in modern film history and is one of the most popular movies by both Tarantino and Pitt.
Brad Pitt and David Fincher
But the actor has also made several influential films together with David Fincher, which have been well received by audiences and critics alike. Their first collaboration was the dark thriller "Se7en", in which Pitt plays a young police officer hot on the trail of a serial killer – a film that is still considered a classic of the genre today.
It was followed just four years later by "Fight Club", a provocative cult film about consumer criticism, images of masculinity and loss of identity. Brad Pitt played the charismatic Tyler Durden, creating one of his most iconic roles. In 2008, Fincher and Pitt worked together again, this time for the emotional drama "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". In it, Pitt plays a man who ages backwards. The joint filmography of Pitt, Fincher and Tarantino has therefore had a significant influence on American cinema in recent decades.
