Caine: Cast addition for the John Wick spin-off
The spin-off takes place after "John Wick 4"
The "John Wick" universe is growing and growing. In addition to the eagerly awaited spin-off "Ballerina", which opens in cinemas on June 6, the spin-off "Caine" with Donnie Yen is also in the works. Now there has been an addition to the cast of the action thriller.
As the industry magazine Variety reports, Rina Sawayama, who made her debut as Akira in "John Wick: Chapter 4", is returning for "Caine". She previously impressed as the tough daughter of Japanese hotel manager Shimazu Koji, with her mixture of grace, precision and ice-cold determination. Her last appearance left no doubt that she holds Caine – the blind killer played by Donnie Yen – responsible for her father's death. Now the conflict looks set to continue. Donnie Yen is also enthusiastic:
"Most delighted to welcome Rina back into this new exciting journey with us. It will be my pleasure and attempt to elevate her amazing character that left us mesmerized from "John Wick: Chapter 4"!"
Yen, who is also directing the film, also revealed that it will be a "Hong Kong-style action thriller" – including spectacular fights, elaborate choreography and intense emotions. The screenplay was written by Mattson Tomlin, known for his work on "Project Power". The producer is once again "John Wick" mastermind Chad Stahelski.
No information on the plot has yet been released. What is clear, however, is that the spin-off takes place after the events of "John Wick: Chapter 4": Caine has been freed from the High Table, but his past is catching up with him. It is still unclear when exactly the movie will be released.
