Spider-Man: Brand New Day: This is what happens in the first trailer for the MCU adventure!
The first scenes are quite something!
It's been a turbulent week for all Marvel fans. Three new trailers found their way onto the internet. Including two for "Avengers: Doomsday" and now a teaser for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day". We'll tell you what you can see in the teaser!
While the "Avengers" leaks provide hardly any concrete clues about the plot, the "Spider-Man" trailer gives a surprising amount of insight – despite the poor image quality. The leak apparently comes from a filmed computer screen and is strongly reminiscent of the legendary leak for "Spider-Man: No Way Home".
The teaser is accompanied by the song "New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down" by LCD Soundsystem, which creates a melancholy, almost gloomy mood. At the beginning, Peter Parker can be heard speaking off-screen: He introduces himself and explains that no one remembers him. In order to prevent a major catastrophe, he has paid the price of being forgotten by everyone. Quote:
"Hi. My name is Peter Parker. You don't remember me, but we used to know each other. Something bad was going to happen, and the only way to stop him was to make everyone forget about me. I'm not just Peter Parker. I'm Spider-Man. And sometimes Spider-Man has to do the hard thing, even if it breaks Peter Parker's heart."
Footage of New York City can be seen at the beginning. Peter reads a letter, then visits a store where MJ works and looks longingly at her – without her recognizing him. Here the consequences of "No Way Home" are made clear once again. A series of cryptic images follow: a press conference, a washing machine and Peter with his hands folded at the window.
Later in the trailer, Peter is seen running through the streets in a Spider-Man suit, but without a mask. There is also a scene in which Spider-Man fights red-clad hand ninjas. What this is all about is open to speculation. "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink also takes to the stage and issues a drastic warning to Spider-Man:
"You're a mess, Spider-Man. Stay out of my way. Or else it won't just be your friends who don't remember who Peter Parker is."
This statement can of course be interpreted in many ways. It is still unclear what role Sink will play in the film. Figures such as Jean Grey or the former soldier Rachel Cole-Alves were previously mooted. In the second clip, Peter runs scantily clad through an alleyway using his abilities. An unknown voice – possibly from Tombstone – seems to threaten Peter:
"Spiders have three life cycles. And between the cycles, it can leave the spider vulnerable to threats.
Shortly afterwards, a van appears that is strongly reminiscent of the Punisher. There is also a spectacular chase with a tank through New York – scenes that were already known from set videos. Scorpion, played by Michael Mando, also appears to play a role again, as does Bruce Banner. In a short dialog, Peter asks him for help:
"Trust me Banner, I need your help."
The answer remains incomprehensible due to the poor quality. In the final sequence of the trailer, Frank Castle alias Punisher finally appears. He supports Spider-Man in the fight. In response to Peter's surprised question as to what he's doing there, Castle replies dryly:
"Saving your ass, can't you see that?!"
Whether and when these first impressions will be officially released is still unclear. The footage shown looks unfinished and obviously not yet fully animated. Nevertheless, it is quite possible that Sony will make the teaser officially available sooner than expected. The leaked clips have now all been subsequently deleted. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opens in cinemas on July 31, 2026 – we'll know more by then at the latest!
