Avengers: Doomsday

"Captain America: Brave New World" is currently running in cinemas. In an interview with the industry portal "Deadline", lead actor Anthony Mackie shared some information with us - including about the upcoming "Avengers" movies. Accordingly, filming of "Doomsday" is set to begin in March 2025. Filming will take place in London from March into the summer. The film will be released on May 1, 2026.

The Captain America Films

To coincide with the current movie "Captain America: Brave New World", we are also providing you with an overview of all the "Captain America" movies in the MCU. The film series is one of the cornerstones of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and plays a crucial role in the development of modern superhero cinema. With the character of Steve Rogers, who becomes an almost invincible fighter thanks to the super-soldier serum, Marvel has created one of the most iconic and popular heroes of all time.

Captain America: The First Avenger

The first film in the series, "Captain America: The First Avenger", was released in 2011 and was directed by Joe Johnston. It depicts the origin of Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans), a young man from Brooklyn who is accepted into the Super Soldier program during World War II. After transforming into Captain America, he fights against the Hydra organization, which threatens the world under the leadership of Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving).

The film is characterized by the aesthetics of the 1940s and places a strong focus on the historical setting of the Second World War. Through the use of the super-soldier serum, Steve becomes a symbol of American patriotism and resistance against evil. The first "Captain America" film is a strong introduction to the series and the first phase of the MCU. Particularly noteworthy is how the movie shows Steve Rogers as an "ordinary" hero who, despite his physical transformation, still retains the same values as at the beginning.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The second installment, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", set new standards for the superhero genre by striking a darker thriller tone while deepening the political dimension of the MCU. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the movie tells the story of Steve Rogers who, after being resurrected in the modern age, is confronted by a world that has changed. When he discovers that the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization has been infiltrated from within by Hydra, Captain America must battle a new threat: the secret and dangerous Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), who turns out to be his old friend Bucky Barnes.

"The Winter Soldier" is considered one of the best films in the MCU, as it not only offers gripping action scenes, but also deals with profound themes such as surveillance, trust and the importance of freedom. The dynamic between Steve and Bucky is one of the most emotional in the entire MCU, and the movie establishes Steve as a character struggling with the modern world and confronting its moral gray areas.

Captain America: Civil War

"Captain America: Civil War" is the third installment in the series and is a massive, epic adventure involving the entire Marvel world. The movie, also directed by the Russo brothers, revolves around a conflict between two camps of Avengers. On one side is Captain America, who fights for the freedom of the individual, and on the other is Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), who argues for more control and responsibility. This dispute leads to a major split within the Avengers and to a visual and ideological division between the superheroes.

"Civil War" is both a "Captain America" movie and an "Avengers" movie, as it introduces many familiar characters such as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). The moral dilemmas faced by Steve and Tony are the central conflict of the film and reflect the theme of responsibility in a world increasingly dominated by superheroes. The result is an action-packed but emotionally intense drama that has had far-reaching consequences for the MCU.
