Spider-Man: Runtime of Brand New Day revealed – the longest Spidey movie ever
Even within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the runtime of the new film starring Tom Holland stands out
Even before its theatrical release, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has set a new record of its own. According to various media reports, the film is said to run 150 minutes. This makes the new big-screen adventure starring Tom Holland the longest "Spider-Man" movie ever. Even if only by a hair's breadth: Before "Brand New Day," its predecessor "No Way Home" held the record – at 148 minutes.
Even within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the runtime of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" stands out. Only three films are longer so far: "Avengers: Endgame" at 181 minutes, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" at 161 minutes, and "Eternals" at 157 minutes. With a runtime of 150 minutes, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is about the same length as "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
Spider-Man on his own: What to expect in Brand New Day
In "Brand New Day," as the title suggests, a completely new chapter begins in the life of Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. Because the people around him have forgotten that he even exists – even those closest to his heart. This leaves him on his own. As the first trailer has already shown, in "Brand New Day" we'll run into a few old acquaintances, including Peter's former girlfriend Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson (played by Zendaya) , the anti-hero Frank Castle, aka the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) , and Avengers member Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). You can see what else the trailer has to offer here:

But many questions remain unanswered. Among other things, the mysterious figure in the trailer – who appears to play a central role but remains unrecognizable beneath her hood – is fueling speculation. Is this the role of Sadie Sink? The "Stranger Things" actress is part of the cast of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" – but who she plays in the film remains a mystery. As previously reported, there is speculation that this could be a famous X-Men character: the mutant Jean Grey, who has been portrayed by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner in previous "X-Men" films. Will the new trailer for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which is likely to be released soon, provide more clarity? Perhaps. It seems more likely, however, that we'll have to wait until the film's theatrical release. The good news: It won't be too much longer until director Destin Daniel Cretton's film premieres. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" hits theaters on July 31, 2026.
What role Spider-Man might play in future films
And what happens next? Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has already given some thought to what the superhero's future might look like. With Spider-Gwen and others, there are numerous variations of Spider-Man that could be the focus of future films. But even in that case, Peter Parker could play an important role. In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Holland explained:
"For whoever's next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter."
If Holland has his way, Spider-Man is set to become a mentor to his successor. In doing so, he would follow in the footsteps of Robert Downey Jr., who, as Tony Stark aka Iron Man, became a mentor to the young Peter Parker. Holland emphasizes:
"Whatever that looks like, I don't know. But if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset."
An interesting approach! However, it's still unclear whether this is merely a thought experiment or if there are already concrete plans in this direction. Given Spider-Man's immense popularity, only one thing seems certain: "Brand New Day" won't be the final cinematic chapter in the Marvel hero's story.
