It's finally here: the first trailer for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day"! And it definitely leaves you wanting more! In addition to Tom Holland's Spider-Man, the trailer also teases the big-screen debut of Jon Bernthal's Punisher. But there are plenty of other familiar faces making an appearance as well. You can find the trailer at the end of the article!

What does the trailer reveal?

As the title already reveals, Peter Parker is facing a true fresh start. This is mainly due to the end of "Spider-Man: No Way Home". As a reminder, the world has forgotten Peter Parker thanks to the magic of Doctor Strange. This is where "Brand New Day" picks up. Peter is alone, he's a stranger even to his closest friends, including MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon). The trailer now shows how Peter struggles with this.

The Punisher on the big screen!

At the same time, the trailer also promises plenty of action – and introduces the Punisher in the process! Frank Castle has previously appeared in his own series and in "Daredevil". Now Jon Bernthal will be appearing in an MCU film for the first time. We also take a look at new cast member Tramell Tillman, known from the sci-fi series "Severance".

Bruce Banner aka Hulk

But that's not all. A major MCU star can be seen in "Brand New Day" and is also part of the trailer: Bruce Banner, who is of course played by Mark Ruffalo. A short conversation between him and Peter is shown. It will be interesting to see what the character's role in "Brand New Day" will look like.

In any case, the casting fits in well with the "Spider-Man" series. In the previous three films, Tom Holland's young Spider-Man has always been paired with an experienced MCU actor. We saw Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man in "Homecoming", Nick Fury in "Far From Home" and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange in "No Way Home". It is therefore possible that Mark Ruffalo's character will act as a kind of mentor. The trailer confirms this impression. There, Peter asks Banner for help.

The return of Mac Gargan alias Scorpion

And there is also a returnee to be seen: Michael Mando's character Mac Gargan. Mando was already seen in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as gangster Mac Gargan aka Scorpion. With his casting, the post-credit scene from "Homecoming" could now be taken up: There, the character already announced that he had unfinished business with Spider-Man. Mando is best known for his role as Nacho Varga in the acclaimed "Breaking Bad" spin-off "Better Call Saul".

What about Sadie Sink?

But one big mystery remains: What about Sadie Sink? It has been clear for some time that the "Stranger Things" star will be in "Spider-Man 4". There has been speculation about her role for just as long. The name Jean Grey has been circulating on the internet for a long time. But is Sink actually playing the famous "X-Men" character? The trailer still leaves that open. At least we don't get to see her face in the trailer. So there is no confirmation of her role yet.

It is possible that she will finally make her big appearance in the next trailer for "Brand New Day". As soon as there is new footage of "Spider-Man 4", you will of course find it in the KinoCheck app and on our YouTube channel. However, we will know more by the time the movie is released in summer at the latest. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opens in cinemas on July 31, 2026. Watch the first trailer here!

A look behind the scenes

There has been a change behind the scenes: after Jon Watts directed the first trilogy, Destin Daniel Cretton ("Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings") is taking over as director. He focuses more on handmade action and less use of green screen, for which Jackie Chan's stunt team was hired, among others. This focus on physical action takes its toll: lead actor Tom Holland was injured during a stunt, meaning that filming had to be briefly interrupted. The screenplay continues to be written by established authors Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
