"Aegon's Conquest" is set to be the first feature film based on George R.R. Martin's popular fantasy universe. As the title suggests, the film will focus on Aegon I Targaryen. Centuries before the events of "Game of Thrones," he began his conquest of Westeros, thereby laying the foundation for the Targaryen dynasty. Aegon set out for Westeros accompanied by his sisters and wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, as well as his dragons. Through military force, he ultimately succeeded in uniting large parts of the continent under his rule. He also created the iconic Iron Throne.

Background
Owen Harris, who is already very familiar with the "Game of Thrones" universe, will direct. Among other things, he was responsible for several episodes of the spin-off series "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms". The screenplay is by Beau Willimon, who is best known as the showrunner for the political series "House of Cards". Willimon also served as a writer on "Andor".
