The sequel is now officially in development at Netflix. As with the previous films, Adam Sandler is once again working on the screenplay, teaming up with his longtime creative partner Tim Herlihy. The writing duo has already brought "Grown Ups 2" and other Sandler films to life. Kyle Newacheck, who most recently directed Sandler's "Happy Gilmore 2," will helm the project.
The cast of the third film is packed with returning actors—but there are also some new additions on board. Once again, the story centers on the five childhood friends: Adam Sandler as Lenny, Kevin James as Eric, Chris Rock as Kurt, David Spade as Marcus, and Rob Schneider as Rob.
Other key cast members are also returning: Maya Rudolph as Deanne, Maria Bello as Sally, Salma Hayek Pinault as Roxanne, and Steve Buscemi as Wiley. New to the cast is, among others, "Modern Family" star Julie Bowen, who previously worked with Sandler on "Happy Gilmore." Other new additions include Deon Cole ("Black-ish") and Bailee Madison ("Bridge to Terabithia").
