Aaron Pierre in talks to become the new Black Panther
The race for the coveted role has begun!
Hot rumors about the casting of the new Black Panther! After "F1" star Damson Idris has already been linked to the role several times, another actor is now throwing his hat into the ring. As insider Daniel Richtman revealed, "Rebel Ridge" star Aaron Pierre is now also in talks with Marvel.
There now seems to be widespread agreement in the fan community and among industry insiders that this is not the original T'Challa, but his son Toussaint, also known as T'Challa II. It could be, for example, that the character from a future timeline joins the cast in order to make the generational change credible and respectful.
Either way, according to Richtman, the plan is to introduce the new Black Panther in 2027. Just in time for the release of "Avengers: Secret Wars". As the film is to be set on the so-called Battleworld anyway, it would of course be an ideal opportunity to establish an aged Toussaint. The new Black Panther is also set to play a central role in Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther 3". According to reports, the project is already being worked on at full speed. The movie is currently scheduled to be released in 2028.
Aaron Pierre: The quiet rise of an exceptional talent

The London-born actor with Caribbean and West African roots has established himself in recent years as a versatile actor with a strong screen presence. His roles are often characterized by inner turmoil, moral gravity and quiet intensity – qualities that make him increasingly interesting for major prestige projects.
First attention on television
Pierre first became known to a wider audience through his work on British television. In 2019, he took on the role of the Roman officer Antony in the historical series "Britannia". Amidst political intrigue and brutal power struggles, Pierre impressed with a controlled, authoritarian performance that made use of his physical presence as well as his ability to act with restraint. It was already apparent here that he is particularly suited to characters with inner conflict.
Cinematic debut with depth in Old
Aaron Pierre made his international cinema debut in 2021 in M. Night Shyamalan's mystery thriller "Old". He played the younger version of Mid-Sized Sedan, a tragic character with mental instability. Despite limited screen time, Pierre lent the role a remarkable vulnerability and humanity. His performance was memorable for many viewers and proved that he could also make his mark in major studio productions.

Critical acclaim for The Underground Railroad
Pierre reached an artistic milestone with the Amazon series "The Underground Railroad" (2021) by Barry Jenkins. As slave hunter Ridgeway, he played one of the most complex antagonists of his career to date. Pierre showed the character not as a one-dimensional villain, but as an ideologically blinded, internally torn man. The role demanded emotional precision and moral acuity – both of which Pierre delivered at a high level. Critics praised his calm but menacing presence in particular.
Iconic voice: Mufasa in the Lion King prequel
Pierre's role as Mufasa in the Disney film "Mufasa: The Lion King" in 2024 marked an important milestone. In the prequel, which tells the origin story of the iconic character, Pierre lent his voice to the young Mufasa. The casting proved to be a stroke of luck: Pierre lent the character dignity, emotional depth and natural authority. The film made him known to an even wider audience and underlined his ability to breathe new life into even legendary characters.

Breakthrough as a leading actor in Rebel Ridge
With the action thriller "Rebel Ridge" (2024), Aaron Pierre finally made the step to leading man. In the role of a former marine who fights against corruption and abuse of power in a small American town, he carries the film almost single-handedly. He dispenses with classic action hero exaggeration and instead relies on quiet determination and moral consistency. The film is often seen as his commercial breakthrough.
