"Stranger Things" Star Cast in New "Godzilla X Kong" Film
Other cast members and the production and release dates have already been confirmed
The cast of the new "Monsterverse" film is getting bigger: The Hollywood Reporter, among others, has learned that "Stranger Things" actor Matthew Modine has been cast for the new "Godzilla X Kong" film.
According to the film studio Legendary, Godzilla and Kong are confronted with a cataclysmic threat that could mean the end of the world in the new monster film. They will be supported by several new characters. One of these will now be embodied by Matthew Modine. According to the Hollywood Reporter, his character is said to be a general.
Modine is not the first "Stranger Things" actor to star in a Monsterverse film. Superstar Millie Bobby Brown was involved in both "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" and "Godzilla vs. Kong".
Cast and crew
In addition to Modine, other new characters have already been cast. One role will be played by Kaitlyn Dever, who will soon be seen in the second season of the acclaimed HBO series "The Last of Us". Also part of the cast are "Unbroken" actor Jack O'Connell and Dan Stevens, who may be familiar from his leading role in the Marvel series "Legion".
The new monster film is being directed by "I Am Mother" director Grant Sputore. Compared to screenwriter Dave Callaham, he is still a relatively unknown quantity. Callaham has already worked on the screenplays for several well-known films, including "The Expendables", the MCU film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" and the "Godzilla" film from 2014. His involvement as a writer for the popular "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" should give fans confidence.
However, a little patience is still required before the new Monsterverse film hits cinemas. Filming is scheduled to start in Australia in April 2025, with the theatrical release set for March 26, 2027. Until then, you can take another look at the most recent film, "Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire".

Full Metal Jacket (1987)
"Full Metal Jacket" is a cult classic by Stanley Kubrick that shows the cruel reality of the Vietnam War from the perspective of US soldiers. The film follows two main parts: the intensive military training camp where soldiers are trained under the tyrannical Sergeant Hartman (Lee Ermey), and the experiences of the war itself. Matthew Modine plays the lead role of "Joker", a soldier trying to hold his own in this brutalized environment. The film is known for its shocking images and its critical examination of the effects of war on humanity.
"Full Metal Jacket" is probably the movie for which Matthew Modine will be particularly remembered. Firstly because he plays the leading role and secondly because the film has taken on a high status in the film history of recent decades. "Full Metal Jacket" is one of the many masterpieces by legendary director Stanley Kubrick, who is of course also known for films such as "2001: A Space Odyssey", the horror classic "The Shining" and "A Clockwork Orange".

Stranger Things

Modine takes on an important role as an antagonist, especially in the first and fourth seasons. His relationship with Eleven is central to this. The role of Martin Brenner brought him renewed attention and made him an integral part of one of today's most successful series.

Other roles
