Dexter Resurrection: First Teaser and Release Date for the Return of the Cult Series
Most of the cast of "Resurrection" has already been revealed
It's almost time: a first teaser announces the return of Dexter Morgan – including a release date. The sequel series "Dexter: Resurrection" will continue the story of the serial killer.
There are now several series based around Michael C. Hall's character. The origin, of course, is the cult show "Dexter". "Dexter" is about a forensic blood splatter analyst from the Miami Metro Police Department who lives a double life as a serial killer. He follows his own moral code: he only kills other murderers.
Back in 2021, Dexter Morgan celebrated a revival with "Dexter: New Blood", which continued the story of the character after the controversial original ending. This show was most recently followed by the prequel "Dexter: Original Sin", which deals with the serial killer's backstory. A second season of "Original Sin" has already been confirmed. "Dexter: Resurrection" will now follow on from "New Blood".
Plot
Initial plot information is already known: The series picks up a few weeks after the events of "New Blood". Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is searching for his son Harrison (Jack Alcott), but at the same time his former colleague Angel Batista (David Zayas) is hot on his heels.
First Teaser
A first teaser gets "Dexter" fans in the mood. It features Michael C. Hall, while we get to hear the iconic music of the series. The most important thing, however, is the release date: July 11, 2025.
Cast of Dexter Resurrection
A large part of the cast of the sequel series has already been confirmed – in addition to Michael C. Hall, there are several other returning actors from the previous series.
Angel Batista (David Zayas)
Angel is an experienced detective working for the Miami Metro Police Department and one of the constant moral figures in the series. Over the course of the show, he develops into an important character with warmth and a friend of Dexter. The character also appeared in "New Blood" and "Original Sin". He will probably play a central role in "Resurrection", as he finally knows Dexter's secret.
Harry Morgan (James Remar)
Harry is Dexter's adoptive father and was a police officer with the Miami Police Department. After recognizing Dexter's tendencies early on, he taught him a strict code. Even after his death and before the series begins, Harry accompanies Dexter as an inner voice, with the protagonist often imagining Harry.
Arthur Mitchell (John Lithgow)
Yes, the "Trinity Killer" is also set to make an appearance in "Dexter: Resurrection". Arthur Mitchell is one of Dexter's most dangerous and complex adversaries. On the outside he leads an inconspicuous family life, but in secret he commits ritualized murders. His cold, calculating nature and deep psychological turmoil make him an iconic character in the show. It is possible that he will be seen in a flashback in "Resurrection".
Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smits)
The respected prosecutor is initially an ally and friend of Dexter. Over time, however, their relationship evolves into a dangerous power play as Miguel begins to accept (and even exploit) Dexter's dark side. Miguel could also appear in a flashback.
Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott)
Harrison Morgan is Dexter's son, who initially grows up as a young child in the main series, but takes on a central role in "New Blood". Marked by the trauma of his early childhood and the absence of his father, Harrison seeks contact with Dexter in the sequel – in search of answers, belonging and a place in the world. In doing so, he reveals dark impulses similar to those of his father. At the end of "New Blood", there was a crucial confrontation between Dexter and Harrison. The relationship between the two characters will also be central in "Resurrection".
More Actors
The new series also brings together a number of other stars in its ranks: Uma Thurman, known from cult movies such as "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill", is also part of the cast. She plays the head of security for billionaire Leon Prater, who is played by "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage. Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") and Krysten Ritter ("Jessica Jones") will be seen as well. However, Jennifer Carpenter will probably not return in her role as Debra Morgan.
