Rumor: Sydney Sweeney in talks for a role in the new X-Men movie
There is more speculation about the Marvel reboot
According to a rumor, Sydney Sweeney is reportedly in talks for the new "X-Men" movie—to play Emma Frost. The speculation about her alleged role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot comes from the insider MyTimeToShineHello. However, there has been no confirmation so far. As such, the rumor should be taken with a grain of salt.
Emma Frost made her first appearance in the "X-Men" comics back in 1980. She was created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. The mutant possesses telepathic powers. Additionally, her body can take on an organic diamond form. Initially, Emma Frost, also known as the White Queen, was an enemy of the X-Men. Over time, however, she switched sides and joined the superhero team. On the big screen, Emma Frost was portrayed by "Mad Men" actress January Jones in 2011's "X-Men: First Class."
X-Men wouldn't be Sydney Sweeney's first Marvel film
For Sydney Sweeney, this wouldn't be her first appearance in a Marvel film. She has already appeared in Sony's Spider-Man Universe in her role in "Madame Web." However, a comeback there isn't expected. After all, the film turned out to be a box office flop. And: Sony's Spider-Man Universe is reportedly set to undergo a reboot (as we reported). A role as Emma Frost in the highly anticipated "X-Men" film would certainly be another massive boost to her career. That said, things are going well for the actress either way.

As the lead actress in the current thriller "The Housemaid," she recently landed a major box office hit. So far, the film has grossed nearly $400 million worldwide. A sequel is already a done deal. She will also star in the sequel, this time alongside Kirsten Dunst, among others. Additionally, Sydney Sweeney is returning as a cast member of the coming-of-age series "Euphoria." In the current third season, she will once again appear alongside stars like Zendaya and Jacob Elordi.
Further speculation about the X-Men reboot
As for the new "X-Men" movie, speculation isn't limited to Sydney Sweeney potentially playing Emma Frost. Just recently, additional potential candidates for the reboot were brought into the mix. The discussion centered on the casting of Rogue and Beast. "Marty Supreme" actress Odessa A'zion and "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" star Peter Claffey are reportedly in the running for the two superhero roles (as we previously reported). In addition, there has been speculation for some time now that "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink will play the X-Men mutant Jean Grey in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" – should that turn out to be true, we might also see her in the new "X-Men" movie.

Two new writers for the X-Men movie
What is already certain, however, is that two new writers have joined the "X-Men" film, as director Jake Schreier recently revealed: Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. The filmmaker had previously collaborated with both of them on the Marvel film "Thunderbolts." Otherwise, the duo is best known for their work on TV series. Lee Sung Jin is the creator and showrunner of the acclaimed series "Beef." Joanna Calo is the co-showrunner of the equally acclaimed series "The Bear: King of the Kitchen." Regarding the new writers, Jake Schreier told Collider:
"When you go back and read X-Men, there's ideology but also interpersonal drama, almost of a soap opera quality. Having writers who understand both how to drive ideology from personal stakes, if we get that right, that's what will feel most honest to what X-Men can be."
Previously, other writers had already been working on the script for the new "X-Men" film. Michael Lesslie had most recently revised an earlier draft by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean. While Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are now taking over the Marvel reboot, Lesslie is in turn involved as a new writer on the next "Fast & Furious" film, "Fast Forever."
