Spider-Man: Brand New Day is coming back to theaters – with new scenes!
"Brand New Day" currently ranks third among the highest-grossing films of all time
With worldwide box office receipts of just under $2.5 billion, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is not only the most successful film of the year, but also ranks third among the highest-grossing films of all time. It is now just $389.7 million behind "Avengers: Endgame", which currently holds the No. 2 spot. Although the film is still playing in theaters in many places, according to Deadline, Sony is planning an additional theatrical release – including previously unreleased scenes.
Of particular interest is the possible return of Rosario Dawson. In the Marvel Universe, the actress plays nurse Claire Temple, who has appeared in "Daredevil", "Jessica Jones", and "The Defenders", among others. Dawson had previously revealed in interviews that she had filmed a scene for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" that ultimately didn't make it into the final cut. It is precisely this scene that could now find its way back to the big screen.
A specific date for the re-release of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has not yet been set. However, a release over Labor Day weekend, September 4-6, 2027, is a possibility. "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was already re-released in 2022. In 2002, there was a double feature of Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man 2".
The Future of Spider-Man
Given the huge success of "Brand New Day," it should be clear to everyone that work is likely already underway behind the scenes on another "Spider-Man" movie. Tom Holland has also spoken several times in the past about his future as Peter Parker. In the long term, the actor plans to pass the torch. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Holland revealed that there's already a concrete plan in place for this.
"There's a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. It's laid out. It's gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it's really exciting."
