It's back in the ring! The "Creed" films starring Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed were not only a hit at the box office, but were also very popular with fans and critics. According to Variety, a spin-off series entitled "Delphi" is now in the works at Amazon.

The new series will focus on a group of young boxers who train at the Delphi Gym – a central location within the "Creed" films. However, specific plot details are still under wraps.

An experienced team is behind the series: Marco Ramirez, known from series such as "Daredevil" and "The Defenders", will take on the role of showrunner and executive producer. Michael B. Jordan is also involved in the production – he acts as executive producer via his production company Outlier Society. In addition, the veterans of the "Rocky" universe – Irwin Winkler, David Winkler and Charles Winkler – are also on board via Winkler Films.

In the "Creed" films, the Delphi Gym is run by Tony "Little Duke" Evers Jr, the son of Apollo Creed's legendary trainer Tony "Duke" Evers. Actor Wood Harris has already played this role in all three films – it has not yet been confirmed whether he will also return in the series. In addition to "Delphi", B. Jordan is also currently working on a series adaptation of the popular book series "Fourth Wing" and a Muhammad Ali series entitled "The Greatest".

Michael B. Jordan: The rise of a superstar – a look at his best-known films and the success of Sinners

Michael B. Jordan is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood today. From teen dramas to blockbusters, from socially critical independent films to his own directorial debut, Jordan's talent, versatility and charisma have earned him a permanent place in the film world. In this article, we take a look at the most famous films of his career, with a special focus on his most recent success: "Sinners".

Early roles and the breakthrough with Fruitvale Station (2013)

Michael B. Jordan began his career in television, with roles in series such as "The Wire" and "Friday Night Lights". His breakthrough in film came in 2013 with the drama "Fruitvale Station", in which he played the real-life character Oscar Grant – a young African-American man who was shot dead by a police officer on New Year's Eve 2008 in Oakland.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Jordan delivered a sensitive, intense performance that not only delighted critics, but also launched a new phase in his career. The film won several awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and established Jordan as a serious actor with social weight.

Creed – A new generation in the "Rocky" universe

The next major milestone followed in 2015 with "Creed". Once again teaming up with director Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan took on the lead role of Adonis Creed, the son of the legendary Apollo Creed from the 'Rocky' films. The film was not only a successful sequel to the popular franchise, but also a stand-alone drama about identity, ambition and family heritage.

Jordan trained for months for the role, putting on massive muscle mass and doing many of the fight scenes himself. Creed was a commercial and critical success that established a new film series. This was followed by "Creed II" (2018) and "Creed III" (2023), the latter marking Jordan's debut as a director –another facet of his talent.

Black Panther – the charismatic antagonist

An absolute highlight of his career was the role of Erik Killmonger in the Marvel hit "Black Panther" (2018). Unlike many one-dimensional comic book villains, Killmonger was portrayed as a complex, deeply wounded character – a man who became radical out of pain and injustice.

Jordan played the character with a mixture of anger, sadness and intelligence. Killmonger was hailed by many as one of the MCU's best antagonists. "Black Panther" became a worldwide phenomenon, grossing over $1.3 billion and was a cultural milestone for Black representation in blockbuster cinema.

Other highlights: Just Mercy, Without Remorse and A Journal for Jordan

In "Just Mercy" (2019), Michael B. Jordan took on the role of real-life lawyer Bryan Stevenson, who stands up for people who have been wrongly convicted. The film addressed the structural inequality in the American justice system and received widespread praise for its seriousness and Jordan's restrained, haunting performance.

With the action film Tom Clancy's "Without Remorse" (2021), Jordan ventured into spy thriller territory. Although the film received a mixed reception, Jordan's performance as elite fighter John Clark was widely acclaimed.

"A Journal for Jordan" (2021) – a drama directed by Denzel Washington – struck a calmer tone. Here too, Jordan showed his emotional range and told a true story about love, loss and memories.

Sinners – a genre mix with depth

"Sinners" (2025) marks another collaboration between Jordan and Coogler and is a fascinating genre mix of vampire horror, music and historical drama. Set in 1932 in the Mississippi Delta, the movie follows twin brothers Smoke and Stack (both played by Jordan) who return home to open a juke joint. But their plans are disrupted by supernatural forces and social tensions.

The film has been praised for its innovative blend of genres, in-depth exploration of themes such as racism and cultural appropriation, and Jordan's impressive dual role. "Sinners" became a box office hit and cemented Jordan's reputation as a versatile actor who excels in both blockbusters and sophisticated dramas.

Conclusion

Michael B. Jordan's career has been characterized by bold role choices and a passion for stories that both entertain and provoke thought. With films such as "Fruitvale Station", "Creed", "Black Panther", "Just Mercy" and "Sinners", he has shown that he is not only a talented actor, but also an artist with a clear vision. His collaboration with director Ryan Coogler has produced some of the most memorable films of the last decade, and it remains exciting to see what projects will follow in the future.
