Series tips for fans of The Conjuring, Annabelle & Co.
The "Conjuring" universe has long since established a firm place for itself in the horror world – with its mixture of ghost stories, religious horror and supernatural investigations. Anyone looking for the next scary kick will find the perfect replacement in these series.
American Horror Story
Ryan Murphy's anthology series is an absolute must for horror fans – each season tells a stand-alone story revolving around themes such as haunted houses, covens, insane asylums and cults. Occult motifs, supernatural horror and religious undertones are all played with. "American Horror Story" combines classic horror with extravagant characters and a touch of drama.
Evil
"Evil" is about a disparate team that investigates allegedly supernatural phenomena for the Catholic Church. The series takes a similar direction to "The Conjuring", but mixes mystery with clever psychological thrills. It remains open as to whether the cases are demonic influences or mental illnesses – which is what makes them so appealing.
The Haunting of Hill House
Mike Flanagan's masterful series "The Haunting of Hill House" combines classic haunted house horror with an emotionally profound family story. Anyone who liked the horror and tragic fates of "The Conjuring" might get their money's worth here.

The Haunting of Bly Manor
The sequel to "Hill House", but with a story all of its own: "The Haunting of Bly Manor" interweaves romance, loss and ghost stories in a poetic way. The horror is quieter here, but no less scary – perfect for anyone who values emotional depth as well as moments of shock.
Midnight Mass
Another work by Mike Flanagan – this time with a strong focus on religious horror. A remote island community experiences miraculous events after a charismatic priest appears. What begins as a spiritual revival develops into a nightmarish scenario about faith, guilt and redemption. "Midnight Mass" is profound, atmospheric and disturbing.
Archive 81
This mystery horror series follows an archivist who restores old videotapes of a missing documentary filmmaker – and becomes involved in a dark cult and occult rituals in the process. "Archive 81" captivates with slowly building horror and an oppressive feeling of paranoia.
