Work on "Scream 7" continues to progress: more and more names are being confirmed for the horror sequel. Now Celeste O'Connor joins the cast of the slasher.

The actress was last seen in "Madame Web" alongside Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney. However, the film turned out to be a disastrous flop and was torn apart by fans and critics alike. However, her performance seems to have made an impression, because, according to Deadline, she will be taking on a previously unknown role in "Scream 7".

"1883" actress Isabel May has also been confirmed for the film - as Sidney Prescott's daughter. Initial rumors in recent months have already indicated that "Scream 7" will focus on Sidney Prescott and her family. Speaking of which: Sidney will of course be played by Neve Campbell once again.

The exact plot has been kept strictly under wraps so far. However, with Kevin Williamson as director and screenwriter, fans can look forward to a return to the roots of the series. Williamson was already responsible for the screenplays for "Scream", "Scream 2" and "Scream 4" and shaped the modern slasher film with his mixture of suspense, meta-humor and clever twists. "Scream 7" opens in cinemas on February 27, 2026.

Celeste O'Connor: An aspiring actress on her way to the top

Celeste O'Connor has established herself as one of Hollywood's most promising talents in the recent years. With versatile roles in a variety of genres, from sci-fi to comedy to horror, the actress, who was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1998, has proven her variety and talent. O'Connor, who grew up in Baltimore, USA, began her career at the theater before celebrating her breakthrough on the big screen.

Early years and first roles

Celeste O'Connor grew up in an environment that nurtured her creativity and interest in acting. She entered the world of movies in 2017 with a small role in the romance "Selah and the Spades". Although the film was not a huge commercial success, her talent was noticed by critics and she attracted the attention of casting agents.

Further engagements in smaller projects followed, which gave her the opportunity to develop her skills and to make her first experiences in front of the camera. Her natural charisma laid the foundations for a promising future in the film industry.

Breakthrough with Freaky and Ghostbusters: Legacy

O'Connor's big breakthrough came in 2020 with her role in the horror film "Freaky". In the body-swapping slasher, which humorously turns the genre conventions of horror films upside down, she played one of the central characters and proved her ability to shine in both dramatic and comedic moments. Freaky was a surprise success and brought O'Connor not only praise from critics but also a growing fan base.

Another milestone followed with "Ghostbusters: Legacy", in 2021. In the sequel to the legendary Ghostbusters series, she played Lucky Domingo, the daughter of a sheriff who becomes part of the new ghost hunting team. The film was a financial success and helped O'Connor to present herself to a wider audience. Her charismatic performance not only earned her recognition, but made her an integral part of the franchise, as evidenced by her return in "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" (2023).

Challenges and new opportunities

Despite the success of "Ghostbusters: Legacy", O'Connor also had to deal with setbacks. Her role as future Spider-Woman Mattie Franklin in the Marvel film "Madame Web" (2023) attracted attention, but the film flopped at the box office and received mixed reviews. "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" was also unable to build on the success of its predecessor. Nevertheless, these setbacks did not harm her career - on the contrary, they opened up new opportunities for her.
