The trailer is almost here!

Insider info on the "Avengers: Doomsday" trailer is coming thick and fast! Originally, the first teaser was supposed to be released on December 19, with the theatrical release of "Avatar 3". But now, some sources say it could drop even earlier!

The date in question is December 11 – about one week earlier. According to insider Daniel Richtman, a Disney trailer is set to be released on that day. Scooper The Beyond Reporter specifically claims it will be the "Doomsday" trailer. This doesn't necessarily contradict earlier reports: it was always said that the trailer would run within the context of "Avatar" – so the premiere could also be a few days earlier.

According to The Beyond Reporter, the teaser will be around one minute long. Allegedly, it already features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. He is said to be reminiscent of classic "Universal" monsters – like Frankenstein's monster or the Phantom of the Opera. At the same time, there are parallels to Darth Vader: a broken, scarred man who can no longer live without his suit.

What is the story of Avengers: Doomsday?

Piece by piece, the puzzle of what "Doomsday" will be about is coming together. With every interview, statement and insider leak, we get an increasingly clear picture. After the latest events in the Marvel films and series, one thing is clear: the multiverse is more unstable than ever before. Realities are colliding, timelines are dissolving and alternate dimensions are beginning to merge.

At this moment, a true Marvel icon enters the stage: Doctor Doom! He recognizes chaos not as a threat, but as an opportunity. In the comics, Doom creates the so-called Battleworld, an artificially assembled world of destroyed realities. Each region of this world reflects fragments of other universes – a patchwork of future, past, timelines and dystopian landscapes. And Doctor Doom? He rules over this world like a god.

The Battleworld also presents the Avengers with major challenges. This is where fragmented versions of familiar heroes meet. Allies become enemies and former enemies forge surprising alliances. A moral chaos where it is difficult to decide what is right and what is wrong. Imagine "Captain America: Civil War" – but in a completely crazy setting.

Is Doom a version of Tony Stark?

One of the biggest sensations was undoubtedly the casting of Robert Downey Jr. as the supervillain. The actor explained in several interviews that he would only return if the role had something completely new to offer. Doom is a complex, broken and deeply contradictory character – that sounds promising!

The big question is of course: why is the Tony Stark actor playing Doctor Doom of all people? This is certainly not simply ignored in the story. Imagine the disappointment if Robert Downey Jr. simply disguises his voice and never takes off his mask: That would have made the casting a pure marketing stunt in the end – surely Marvel won't risk that shitstorm.

So: Why does Doctor Doom look like Iron Man? One of the strongest theories: The villain is actually a variant of Tony Stark who has gone the way of the villain. Sounds unlikely? Both are geniuses, masters of technology and both are traumatized. In the big conflict of "Captain America: Civil War", Tony Stark was the advocate for more control. In the comics, there are even storylines in which Doom becomes Stark's self-proclaimed successor and fights for good as the "Infamous Iron Man".

In other stories, the two even work together on time travel or swap bodies. That sounds pretty crazy – but as you can see, the connection between the two characters is anything but new.

When is Avengers: Doomsday starting?

"Avengers: Doomsday" will be released in cinemas on December 18, 2026. "Avengers: Secret Wars" will follow on December 17, 2027. Like "Infinity War" and "Endgame", both films will be produced back-to-back. So we can probably expect a coherent story with a huge cliffhanger in the middle. Our tip: At the end of "Doomsday" is the destruction of the known reality and the creation of the Battleworld. This would completely reshuffle the cards and the tension would be huge as to what awaits us a year later in "Secret Wars".
