Overview

Two years following the events of the battle of Sokovia, Thor finds himself imprisoned by the fire demon Surtur. During their encounter, Surtur divulges the startling information that Thor's father, Odin, is no longer on Asgard. The fire demon goes on to explain that a cataclysmic event, known as Ragnarök, is looming, which will result in the destruction of Asgard.

Upon his return to Asgard, Thor discovers that Heimdall, the gatekeeper, is nowhere to be found. To his surprise, Thor's estranged brother Loki has assumed the guise of their father, Odin. Thor forcefully coerces Loki into helping him track down their real father's whereabouts

Odin reveals that he is on the verge of death, and despite Thor's efforts in preventing Ragnarök, the apocalyptic event is inevitable. Odin explains that his demise will result in the release of his firstborn child, Hela, from her long-standing imprisonment in the realm of Hel.

Shortly after Odin's passing, Hela emerges and shatters Thor's trusted weapon, Mjolnir. She relentlessly pursues Thor and Loki as they attempt to escape through the Bifröst Bridge, ultimately forcing them out into the depths of space. Arriving back in Asgard, Hela effortlessly overcomes the defenseless army and mercilessly slaughters the Warriors Three

Subsequently, Thor crash-lands on Sakaar, a desolate planet teeming with refuse and surrounded by wormholes. The Grandmaster, ruler of Sakaar, enslaves Thor and designates him as a gladiator. Coincidentally, Loki has already ingratiated himself with the Grandmaster. To his surprise, Thor recognizes one of his fellow gladiators, designated as Scrapper 142, as a Valkyrie, a renowned force of female warriors who fought against Hela countless eons ago. Thor is coerced into participating in the Grandmaster's Contest of Champions, where he must face off against his old acquaintance, the Hulk.

In a turn of events, Thor manages to locate the Quinjet that originally transported Hulk to Sakaar. A recorded message from Natasha Romanoff triggers Hulk to revert back to his human form, Bruce Banner, for the first time since Sokovia. Eventually, Scrapper 142 decides to ally herself with Thor in the mission to save Asgard. With Loki's help, they successfully steal one of the Grandmaster's ships. Together, they liberate the other enslaved gladiators, who are inspired to revolt by two aliens named Korg and Miek.

Thor, Banner, and Scrapper 142 make their escape through a wormhole, leading them back to Asgard. Upon their arrival, they witness Hela's forces launching a brutal assault on Heimdall and the innocent citizens of Asgard. The final battle begins and thor must make difficult decisions to protect himself and all Ascadians.
