The protagonist Laura Faun grows up in an orphanage and then has the great fortune to be adopted into a wealthy family. Years later, she becomes a best-selling author. But her quiet life is turned upside down when a series of murders suddenly begins in her small town. She herself also falls into the radar of the suspects, as the murders have similarities to her book. And then suddenly there's this unknown girl. Laura's past catches up with her, for which she believes she is being punished. Her only chance is to stay one step ahead of her book.
