Captain Kirk, Spock and Dr. McCoy are spending relaxing days on Earth. Meanwhile, things are going wrong on the brand new Enterprise, as not everything is running smoothly yet. Suddenly, an eccentric Vulcan named Sybok appears and hijacks the Enterprise in order to reach the center of the universe. His destination is Shakari, a planet that lies beyond the boundaries that no human has yet crossed. The possessed Sybok is convinced that he will meet the creator of all life there - Sybok is in search of God.
