From chef to galactic criminal: "The Bear" star Jeremy Allan White will play the son of Jabba the Hutt in "The Mandalorian & Grogu".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will provide the voice of the character Rotta. Rotta made his debut in the 2008 animated film "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and also appeared in several episodes of the series of the same name. At the time, he was very young still and was overshadowed by his infamous father Jabba. Rotta is now older - and possibly more corrupt. That would make perfect sense: after all, "The Mandalorian & Grogu" is set many years after the events of "Clone Wars".

At present, not much is known about the plot of "The Mandalorian & Grogu". However, we assume that the end of the third season will be used as the starting point for the movie. The Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal, will more or less officially ensure order on the outer rim of the galaxy with Grogu on behalf of the New Republic. In addition to Pascal and Jeremy Allan White, we will also get to see Sigourney Weaver in a hitherto unknown role.

The movie, directed by Jon Favreau, will be released in cinemas on May 22, 2026.

Jeremy Allen White: From "Shameless" Teenager to Award-Winning Chef

Jeremy Allen White, born on February 17, 1991 in New York City, has made a name for himself in Hollywood as a versatile actor. He first became known for his role as Lip Gallagher in the hit series "Shameless", but his breakthrough as a talented character actor came with the leading role of chef Carmy Berzatto in the series "The Bear".

Beginnings and "Shameless": The Influential Years

White discovered his passion for acting at a young age. He began with dancing lessons before dedicating himself to acting at the age of 13. During his high school years, he worked at a casting agency to gain his first insights into the industry.

He made his first movie appearance in 2006 in "Beautiful Ohio". White appeared in various television series, including "Law & Order" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", prior to landing his best-known role as Lip Gallagher in the 2011 US adaptation of the British series "Shameless".

"Shameless" told the story of a chaotic, dysfunctional family in Chicago. White played Lip, the most intelligent of the Gallagher siblings, who struggled with alcohol and difficulties realizing his potential. The series ran for eleven seasons and made White a familiar face on television.

New Challenges and the Breakthrough with "The Bear"

In addition to his work on "Shameless", White has appeared in films such as "Movie 43", "Bad Turn Worse" and "Rob the Mob". In 2018, he appeared in the Amazon series "Homecoming", followed by a role in the horror film "The Rental" in 2020. The turning point in White's career came in 2022 with the series "The Bear". In the critically acclaimed series, he plays the talented but demon-ridden chef Carmy Berzatto, who takes over the family's run-down sandwich restaurant in Chicago after his brother's death.

"The Bear" is an intense, realistic portrayal of the world of gastronomy. The series shows the pressure, the hectic pace and the emotional challenges of working in a restaurant kitchen. White shines in the role of Carmy, who is torn between his perfectionism and his personal problems. For his performance in "The Bear", White was honored with numerous awards, including the Golden Globe Award and the Emmy Award for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. These awards underline his transformation from a talented young actor to a dedicated character actor.

Future Projects and Establishing Himself as a Character Actor

White's career is on the upswing. In 2023, he appeared in the biopic "The Iron Claw" about the Von Erich wrestling family.

From his beginnings in "Shameless" to his breakthrough with "The Bear", Jeremy Allen White has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors. His ability to portray complex, multifaceted characters with authenticity and depth has earned him recognition from critics and audiences worldwide. It remains to be seen what roles he will take on in the future, but one thing is certain: Jeremy Allen White is here to stay.
