Although "Creed 3" proved to be a complete success at the box office and was also pretty well received by fans, there was a long silence about another sequel – until now! In an interview with the industry magazine Variety, Michael B. Jordan gave an update on "Creed 4". A new series is also in the works!

The content will revolve around Amara, the daughter of Adonis Creed. Further details are not yet known. According to B. Jordan, the universe is to be kept alive with a series of side projects without Adonis constantly taking center stage. A spin-off series entitled "Delphi" is also on the agenda, focusing on a group of young boxers who train at the Delphi Gym.

With regard to "Creed 4", Michael B. Jordan revealed that although the film is in the planning stages, no exact release date has yet been set. To be more precise, the movie will be released "Eventually" – whatever that means. We'll probably have to be patient for quite a while until then.

From outsider to modern myth: the development of the Rocky and Creed universe

Hardly any other film franchise has burned itself so deeply into the cultural memory as the "Rocky" universe. What began in 1976 with a comparatively small drama about an underdog from Philadelphia grew over the decades into a multi-layered, cross-generational film universe that is successfully continued today with the Creed series. The story of Rocky Balboa and later Adonis Creed has long been more than just a series of boxing films – it is a modern fairy tale about courage, perseverance, identity and the fight against one's own limits.

Rocky: a movie that reinvented the sports genre

When Sylvester Stallone wrote the screenplay for "Rocky" at the end of the 1970s, he himself was a virtually unknown actor. His condition of being allowed to play the lead role himself made many studios shy away. But in the end, Stallone prevailed – and thus laid the foundations for one of the most iconic film characters in cinema history. Rocky was a huge success, won three Oscars, including Best Picture, and made Stallone a star overnight.

However, the appeal of "Rocky" never lay in boxing alone. Rather, the film was a symbol of the American dream: a man from the humblest of backgrounds is given a single chance – and takes it, not necessarily to win, but to prove that he is worthy of being in the ring. The entire original series carried this message.

The Rocky sequels: From street fighter to legend

Five more "Rocky" films were released between 1979 and 1990. Each installment continued the story organically, even if the focus was increasingly on the spectacle of the ring. Rocky rose from rookie to champion, crashed and fought his way back. He lost people, made new friends and faced opponents who became pop culture icons – most notably Ivan Drago in "Rocky 4".

Although the series seemed exaggerated at times, its core always remained the same: Rocky was a fighter, not because he had to, but because it was his way of facing life. The sixth part, "Rocky Balboa" (2006), then returned to the emotional origins and showed the ageing boxer wrestling with the demons of the past and trying to prove one last time that he still had something left in the tank. For many fans, this movie is considered a worthy conclusion to the classic saga.

Rebirth: Creed and the passing on of the legacy

In 2015, director Ryan Coogler took the helm and brought a breath of fresh air to the long-dormant franchise. His approach was both bold and respectful: the story of a new protagonist who is nevertheless inextricably linked to Rocky. "Creed" tells the story of Adonis Johnson, the illegitimate son of Apollo Creed. In his search for identity and a place in life, he meets Rocky Balboa, who becomes a mentor, father figure and moral compass for him.

Coogler's vision was both homage and redefinition. The film combined modern storytelling with nostalgic elements, appealing to a new generation without losing the old. Stallone even received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of the aged Rocky. "Creed" made it clear: the universe lives on - but in a new form and with a new focus.

The sequels: A universe finds its own voice

With "Creed 2" (2018), the bridge to the Rocky era was consciously built once again. Adonis faced Viktor Drago, the son of the man who once killed his father in the ring. Despite the dramatic link to old conflicts, Rocky himself was already receding somewhat into the background. The series slowly began to detach itself from its origins and develop its own independent identity.

"Creed 3" (2023) finally marked a real turning point: Michael B. Jordan took over as director for the first time. The film showed Adonis as a man confronted with his past, but without Rocky's direct support. This was a deliberate move that made it clear that the "Creed" saga was now standing on its own two feet. The universe has become bigger than just one character – even if Rocky remains ever-present as the iconic founding father.

Why this universe is timeless

The "Rocky" and "Creed" franchise stands for more than just fights and training montages. It embodies values: perseverance, loyalty, courage and the quest to become a better person. These universal themes work in every generation. That's why, despite the new characters and modern staging, the Creed universe feels like a logical progression, not a break.

Rocky himself once said: "It's not about how many times you get hit. It's about how many times you get up again." This attitude runs through every movie – and makes the series a cross-generational phenomenon.

Conclusion: a universe that continues to grow

From a small drama to a worldwide franchise: The journey from Rocky to Creed is one of the most remarkable developments in film history. With new projects, spin-offs and an ever-expanding cosmos of characters, there is no end in sight. The stage may change, new faces may enter the ring – but the spirit of the underdog lives on. And that is exactly what makes this universe timeless.
