The highlights of the Warners panel at CinemaCon 2025

In the run-up to this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas, rumors made the rounds that Warner Bros. could be facing major restructuring. CEO David Zaslav is said to be unhappy with the course of his studio bosses Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy – too many daring projects and costly failures with unproven content are allegedly being criticized. But there was no sign of uncertainty on stage, as there was plenty of material on "Superman", "The Bride" and "Final Destination 6: Bloodlines".

Focus on 2025 instead of the distant future

Compared to previous presentations, Warner Bros. held back this year with glimpses into the distant future. Instead of big surprises or visions for the coming years, the focus was on the film schedule for 2025. Nevertheless, there was plenty of material to marvel at – and a clear commitment to the cinema experience. Jeff Goldstein, President of the distribution company, praised the cinema operators for their modernizations and emphasized: "Nothing will replace the cinema experience."

First glimpses and big names

Among others, "A Minecraft Movie" and the thriller "Blood & Sinners" were presented, followed by a highlight: Paul Thomas Anderson's ambitious film "One Battle After Another". Actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Regina Hall shared their impressions of the work, which combines political themes with epic storytelling. DiCaprio described a particularly emotional scene in which his character loses his nerve on the phone – an indication of the film's intense character work.

Horror fans can look forward to more to come: Richard Brener from New Line Cinemas presented new shockers such as "Final Destination: Bloodlines" with a particularly memorable death sequence – peanut allergy and MRI included. According to viewers, the movie doesn't skimp on painful details such as ripped-out piercings or impaled skulls. Zach Cregger's new film "Weapons" also promises goosebumps and a complex, changing narrative structure.

Racing action, creepy romance and animation offensive

Director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer presented ten impressive minutes from their new racing film "F1" with Brad Pitt – including an intense racing experience. Warner Bros. offered a glimpse into the year 2026 with Maggie Gyllenhaal's "The Bride!", a wild genre mix of horror, romance and punk aesthetics. The scenes shown were compared to the cult hit "Natural Born Killers": All sorts of graphic effects, lots of black humor and Frankenstein's monster and his bride Bride on a crime spree. Lead roles: Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley. A somewhat different "Frankenstein" film awaits us here.

Warner Bros. also wants to make a fresh start in the animation sector. President Bill Damaschke presented a variety of projects – including the remake of "The Flintstones", Melissa McCarthy's animation debut "Margie Claus" and a musical fantasy called "Bad Fairies".The Cat in the Hat" is also waiting in the wings –with Bill Hader.

However, the launch of the animation teaser with Bugs Bunny seemed somewhat contradictory after Warner Bros. recently canceled several "Looney Tunes" projects and removed classic cartoons from its streaming platform.

DC Studios: Big words, little news

Finally, Peter Safran and James Gunn took to the stage to usher in the new era of DC Studios – at least in words. However, there were no surprises. Only the upcoming "Superman" film with David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult was presented, accompanied by great ambitions. Gunn emphasized that the film should be both spectacular and human. Apart from that, however, things remained quiet – no further DC project was specifically announced, despite productions already planned for 2026.

Conclusion: plenty of material for the movies - despite internal turmoil

Despite possible internal tensions, Warner Bros. presented a strong line-up for 2025 – with big names, creative projects and a clear focus on the cinematic experience. Even if there were largely no surprises, the studio showed that it is still willing to invest in original ideas and ambitious material. We can only hope that this courage will continue in the future – regardless of the restructuring taking place behind the scenes.
