The Big Bang Theory: New Spin-Off Around Stuart Gets Title

"The Big Bang Theory" is here to stay! Although the original series came to an end in 2019, "Young Sheldon" in particular allowed fans to linger even longer in the world of Sheldon Cooper. But that's not the end for the show: The spin-off "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" is currently running in the United States and another series about Stuart has now got its title.

As the industry magazine Deadline reports, it will be called "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe". At the center of the series is the character Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman. Fans will of course know Stuart from "The Big Bang Theory", where he appeared from the second season onwards. The owner of a comic book store featured in a total of 84 episodes of the sitcom.

More Actors from "The Big Bang Theory"

In addition to Sussman as the lead actor, other "The Big Bang Theory" stars will also be reprising their roles for the spin-off. Lauren Lapkus will return as Stuart's girlfriend Denise. Brian Posehn as Bert Kibbler and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke will likewise be making a comeback.

"The Big Bang Theory" creator Chuck Lorre is to return as writer and producer for "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe". The series is set after the end of the original series. According to Deadline, however, the spin-off has not yet been officially greenlit.

"Stuart Fails to Save the Universe" would be the fourth series within "The Big Bang Theory" universe. The prequel "Young Sheldon" about fan favorite Sheldon Cooper ran from 2017 to 2024. In 2024, the sequel "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" was released in the United States. The focus here is on Sheldon's older brother Georgie and his wife Mandy.

A final announcement on the Stuart series is expected in the course of the next few weeks.

"The Big Bang Theory": Overview and Order of the Series

The Big Bang Theory (2007–2019)

"The Big Bang Theory" premiered in 2007 and brought us the stories of four nerds and their friends. The main characters Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) shaped the television scene for years. "The Big Bang Theory" was loved not only for its humor and quirky characters, but also for the way it brought science and nerds into mainstream media.

The sitcom is among the most successful and popular series of its time. The series ended its triumphant run after 12 seasons with an emotional finale that paid tribute to the development of the characters and their relationships with one another. In total, "The Big Bang Theory" has 279 episodes.

Young Sheldon (2017–2024)

The first spin-off from "The Big Bang Theory" universe is "Young Sheldon". The series tells the story of young Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage), an exceptionally intelligent but socially awkward child growing up in Texas. "Young Sheldon" sheds light on Sheldon's childhood and teenage years, his family and his first scientific discoveries. It elaborates on the familiar image of Sheldon from "The Big Bang Theory" and explains how he became the eccentric scientist that fans of the original series know so well.

The prequel ended in 2024 after season 7 and ran for a total of 141 episodes.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage

The first season of the "Young Sheldon" sequel "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" premiered in 2024. The series follows on from the end of the Sheldon spin-off. Montana Jordan has already appeared in all seven seasons of "Young Sheldon" and returns as Georgie for the new spin-off. Emily Osment also reprises her role as Mandy.

The first season is currently airing on US television, but a second season has already been confirmed!
