On your marks, get set, dead! "Ready or Not" is going into its second round, as the sequel to the popular horror comedy has officially been announced.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella – who also directed Part 1 – are returning to work on the long-awaited sequel "Ready or Not 2" for Searchlight Pictures. The first film from 2019 proved to be a surprise success in the horror genre and was well received by critics and audiences alike.

Samara Weaving will of course be back in the sequel, but there is no information about the rest of the cast as yet. In the predecessor, Adam Brody, Henry Czerny and Andie MacDowell played important roles as members of the shady Le Domas family. "Ready or Not", which was also directed by Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, was about Grace, a bride who marries into the wealthy and eccentric Le Domas family. But what begins as a fairy tale quickly turns into a nightmare when she has to defend herself against the insane family in a deadly version of "Hide and Seek". A start date for part 2 has yet to be set.

Samara Weaving's career: from TV star to sought-after horror actress

Samara Weaving, born on February 23, 1992 in Adelaide, Australia, has developed into one of Hollywood's most promising actresses in recent years. Known for her distinctive roles in the horror genre, however, she has had a varied career ranging from soap operas to international blockbusters.

Early beginnings in Australia

Samara Weaving comes from a family with strong ties to the entertainment industry. Her uncle is the famous actor Hugo Weaving, known for his roles in films such as "The Matrix" and "The Lord of the Rings". But despite these connections, Samara has forged her own path.

Her career began in 2008 when she took on a leading role in the Australian soap opera Home and Away. In the popular series, she played the role of Indigo "Indi" Walker, which brought her national attention for the first time. She played the role from 2009 to 2013, which not only earned her a loyal fan base, but also valuable acting experience.

The transition to Hollywood

After her success in Australia, Samara Weaving made the leap to Hollywood. In 2015, she landed her first major role in the American series "Ash vs Evil Dead", a horror comedy based on the cult horror film series "Evil Dead". Here she played the role of Heather, which gave her her first foot in the door of the international film industry.

Further roles in TV series followed, including "SMILF", a Showtime series in which she played the role of Nelson Rose. In this role, Weaving was able to demonstrate her ability to portray complex, emotional characters, which helped to further raise her profile in Hollywood.

Breakthrough with "The Babysitter"

Her big breakthrough came in 2017 with the role of Bee in the Netflix horror comedy "The Babysitter". Directed by McG, the film stars Weaving as a charismatic but deadly babysitter who is part of a satanic cult. The film combines horror, black humor and quirky moments, with Samara Weaving's performance standing out in particular.

Her performance in "The Babysitter" earned her great acclaim, and she returned to the same role in the sequel "The Babysitter: Killer Queen" in 2020. With this role, she gained a worldwide fan base.

Successful roles in the horror genre

Weaving's affinity for the horror genre continued. In 2019, she played the lead role in the black horror film "Ready or Not", which quickly became a surprise hit. In the film, she plays Grace, a young bride who becomes embroiled in a murderous hunt within her new husband's family after the wedding. The film captivated with its intelligent mix of black humor and bloody shock moments and was praised by critics and audiences alike.

Beyond horror: other projects

Although she is best known for her work in the horror genre, Samara Weaving has also impressed outside of this genre. In 2020, she starred in the comedy "Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music", where she played the daughter of Alex Winters and Keanu Reeves' legendary characters. This movie showed a new side of Weaving and proved that she is also comfortable in other genres.

In 2021, she appeared alongside Daniel Radcliffe in the action comedy "Guns Akimbo", in which she played Nix, a merciless killer. This action-packed movie gave her the opportunity to showcase her action skills and reach another international audience.
