The gossip factory concerning a new "Ocean's" film is working overtime: According to reports from Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, "Deadpool 2" director David Leitch is to take over the direction of "Ocean's 14". He had previously worked with Brad Pitt in the action comedy "Bullet Train".

It was originally reported that Edward Berger, the acclaimed director of "All quiet on the Western Front", was also interested in the project. However, David Leitch currently seems to be the favorite. The return of George Clooney and Brad Pitt to their iconic roles has already been confirmed. It is also rumored that Matt Damon and other members of the original ensemble could also make appearances.

George Clooney himself had hinted last year in an interview with Uproxx that another "Ocean's" movie could be in the works. Quote:

"We have a really good script for another "Ocean's" now, so we may end up doing another one. It's actually a great script."

However, Clooney left open whether the new film will officially be called "Ocean's 14". However, he hinted that the tone could be similar to that of the film "Going in Style", a humorous yet emotional heist movie.

The career of David Leitch

David Leitch is a versatile director, producer, actor and stuntman who has recently earned himself a permanent place in the film industry. Born on November 16, 1975, Leitch began his career as a stuntman before making a name for himself as a filmmaker. His progression from working in front of the camera to directing major Hollywood projects is impressive and a testament to his talent and passion for cinema.

The beginnings: from stuntman to action director

Before David Leitch became known for his directing work, he was one of the most demanded stuntmen in Hollywood. He worked as a double for big stars such as Brad Pitt and Matt Damon and appeared in films such as "Fight Club" (1999), "Troy" (2004) and "The Bourne Ultimatum" (2007). His flair for dynamic action and stunt choreography quickly became his trademark. Together with Chad Stahelski, he founded the production company 87Eleven, which specializes in action design. This expertise laid the foundation for his career as a director.

The breakthrough with "John Wick"

David Leitch's directing career began with a bang: "John Wick" (2014). Together with Chad Stahelski, he brought this modern action classic to the big screen. Although Leitch was not officially named as the director, his influence on the film was unmistakable. "John Wick" was a worldwide success and starred Keanu Reeves as a deadly hitman. The film impressed with its precise fight choreography and visually impressive staging - elements that Leitch made his trademark.

Further successes as a director

After John Wick, Leitch continued to build on his success as a director. In 2017, he directed "Atomic Blonde", a stylish espionage thriller starring Charlize Theron. The film, set during the Cold War, impressed with its elaborately staged action sequences and unique look.

Leitch showed another side of his skills with "Deadpool 2" (2018). The mixture of black humor, intense action and emotional depth made the film a worthy successor to the first "Deadpool" film. Ryan Reynolds returned as the cheeky antihero, and Leitch ensured that the action remained as wild as it was entertaining.

In 2019, Leitch took over the direction of "Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw", a spin-off of the popular "Fast & Furious" series. Starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, the film brought spectacular stunts and humorous dialog to the big screen. The success of the film proved once again that Leitch can also handle big blockbuster productions.

A high-speed adventure: "Bullet Train"

In 2022, Leitch directed "Bullet Train" (2022), an action film based on a Japanese novel. Starring Brad Pitt, the film tells the story of a hitman who meets a group of other professionals on a high-speed train - all with their own missions. "Bullet Train" combines fast-paced action with black humor and Leitch's characteristic visual style. 2024 then "The Fall Guy" with Ryan Gosling was released. The film was a tribute to all stunt workers in Hollywood and was very well received by fans and critics.
