New Image From "Jurassic World 4: Rebirth"
The film is to be inspired by Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park"
Time for a new installment of "Jurassic World": After the first images of "Jurassic World 4: Rebirth" were revealed in September of this year, Empire is now following up with another image.
Leading actress Scarlett Johansson is shown hunting dinosaurs, apparently equipped with a tranquilizer gun.
This fits in well with the current clues about the plot: it revolves around Zora Bennett, an experienced specialist in covert operations, who is leading a dangerous mission. Her team is tasked with securing the genetic material of three powerful dinosaurs. Naturally, things go wrong in the process and a fight for survival begins on a secluded island.
Director Gareth Edwards also revealed that "Jurassic World: Rebirth" will be based on the first "Jurassic Park" film by Steven Spielberg. This means: diverse locations and exciting action scenes. He further hinted that some iconic dinosaurs must not be missing. So we can presumably look forward to meeting the T-Rex and the raptors one more time.
Besides Scarlett Johansson, the cast also includes "Bridgerton" star Jonathan Bailey, Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and "Alita" villain Ed Skrein. The movie will be released in movie theaters on July 2, 2025.
The Jurassic World Movies: A Successful Series Combining Nostalgia and Modernity
Since its debut in 2015, the "Jurassic World" film series has successfully brought the legendary "Jurassic Park" saga into the 21st century. It combines nostalgic elements of the original films with modern action and dramatic special effects. With three movies released thus far, the series has grossed billions of dollars all over the world and won over new fans as well as the hearts of long-time supporters. But what makes the "Jurassic World" movies so special and how do they continue the story of the dinosaurs?
Jurassic World (2015): A Park Becomes Reality
After a hiatus of over a decade, the dinosaur franchise returned to the big screen with "Jurassic World". The movie is set in a time when John Hammond's dream of a functioning dinosaur theme park has become a reality. Under the management of Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan), Jurassic World is a thriving tourist destination on the island of Isla Nublar. But the greed for ever more spectacular attractions leads the scientists to create a genetically manipulated dinosaur: the Indominus Rex.
This hybrid dinosaur breaks out and wreaks havoc in the park, becoming the central plot of the movie. The protagonists Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a dinosaur trainer with a special relationship to velociraptors, and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the park manager, fight together for survival. The movie cleverly plays with the familiar elements of the original series, such as the fascination with dinosaurs and the ethical boundaries of science. At the same time, it introduces modern action sequences and breathtaking CGI effects. "Jurassic World" was a huge financial success and paved the way for the sequels.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018): From the Park to the Rescue Mission
In the sequel "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom", the plot takes a darker turn. Three years after the events of the first film, Jurassic World has been destroyed and the dinosaurs are living freely on Isla Nublar. But the imminent eruption of a volcano threatens the existence of the animals. Claire and Owen return to lead a rescue mission. They are supported by a group of scientists and activists. However, there is a dark plot behind the mission: the rescued dinosaurs are to be sold, and the animals' genetic material will once again be used for dangerous experiments.
The movie expands the universe of the series and shifts the action to the world outside the island. The second half of the movie takes place in a mansion where the dinosaurs are auctioned off and eventually escape. The new hybrid dinosaur, the Indoraptor, is particularly exciting. "Fallen Kingdom" places more emphasis on horror elements and the moral question of whether dinosaurs have a right to live. The movie ends with a radical twist: The dinosaurs are released into the wild and now live in the human world.
Jurassic World: Dominion (2022): The Coexistence of Humans and Dinosaurs
The third part of the series, "Jurassic World: Dominion", picks up where the previous movie left off. Dinosaurs have now spread around the world and humanity must learn to coexist with them. Owen and Claire, now a couple, try to protect the girl Maisie, who has a special connection to the dinosaurs. At the same time, the world is dominated by biotech companies that use the dinosaurs' genetic material for their own purposes.
Not only does the film bring back the main characters from "Jurassic World", but also the iconic characters from "Jurassic Park", including Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). This mix of old and new characters creates a link between the generations of the franchise. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film impressed with spectacular action scenes and offered fans numerous nostalgic moments. Themes such as environmental destruction, the limits of science and the dangers of greed and power remain central to the series.
