Billionaire John Hammond secretly builds a theme park on a remote island that offers its guests extraordinary attractions. To test and evaluate the park, he invites a group of experts, including paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant, his colleague Dr. Ellie Sattler, mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, and Hammond's grandchildren, Tim and Lex.
The group is flown to the island by helicopter and initially experiences the fascinating world of dinosaurs up close. Hammond has succeeded in cloning dinosaurs using genetic engineering and keeping them in open enclosures. But soon, unexplained malfunctions occur at the facility, and everything threatens to spiral out of control.
While the experts try to find the cause of the problems, the dinosaurs break out of their enclosures and begin a frenzied hunt for the people in the park. In addition to the giant T-Rex, the highly intelligent velociraptors become the greatest threat to the group, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
The group desperately tries to find a way off the island, but a storm prevents an evacuation by boat. Their only option is the helipad on the other side of the island. Together with the children and park ranger Robert Muldoon, they try to face the dangerous dinosaurs and reach the helicopter.
