More than three years after the last season of "Peaky Blinders", fans can finally look forward to the grand finale: the gangster saga is getting its own final film. The start date for "The Immortal Man" has now been announced.

According to Netflix, the film will be released worldwide on March 20, 2026. In the USA, it will even be released in selected cinemas two weeks earlier, on March 6, 2026. The film will be directed by Tom Harper, while series creator Steven Knight will write the screenplay.

In terms of content, "The Immortal Man" ties in with the events of the series and is set in Birmingham during the Second World War. Tommy Shelby has actually retired from a life of crime and is trying to put his past behind him. But when the fate of both his family and his country is at stake, he has no choice but to return.

The cast has also remained the same so far: Cillian Murphy once again slips into the iconic role of Tommy Shelby. Also returning are Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs, Ian Peck as Curly, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne and Stephen Graham as Haydn Stagg. The ensemble is strengthened by prominent newcomers such as Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Barry Keoghan and Jay Lycurgo.

A sequel series is also in the works, set after the events of the Second World War. Cillian Murphy is once again part of the team – but only as a producer. Filming will take place at the original locations in Birmingham, at Digbeth Loc. Studios to be precise.

Series tips in the style of "Peaky Blinders": These series captivate with gangsters, power games and a dark atmosphere

"Peaky Blinders" has set standards in recent years: rough gangster milieu, complex characters, political background, stylish staging and a soundtrack that hits the nerve of the times. Anyone who has finished the story of the Shelby family and is now looking for new series with a similar flair will fortunately find plenty of strong new material. Here are some recommendations that fans of Tommy Shelby and his gang should definitely watch.

Boardwalk Empire: The Shelbys' American brother

When it comes to series with a historical gangster flair, there's no way around "Boardwalk Empire". The story takes place during the Prohibition era in Atlantic City and revolves around politician and gangster boss Enoch "Nucky" Thompson, who builds up an extensive alcohol smuggling empire. The series combines crime elements, politics, power struggles and elaborate backdrops to create a gripping epic. Similar to "Peaky Blinders", it shows how closely crime and politics are intertwined – only here on the US East Coast. The tone is dark, the characters morally ambivalent and the violence brutally realistic.

Gangs of London: modern gang culture, brutal aesthetics

Anyone who loves the toughness and intensity of "Peaky Blinders" should take a look at "Gangs of London". The series relocates the gangster drama to modern-day London, where ethnic, familial and political groups fight for supremacy in the city. The action sequences are cinematically staged, the power games highly complex and the atmosphere uncompromisingly dark. Although the series is set in the present day, its raw mood is strongly reminiscent of the world of the Shelbys. The family relationships, conflicts of loyalty and inner turmoil of the characters perfectly suit the tastes of all Peaky Blinders fans.

Godless: Western with a Peaky Blinders vibe

At first glance, a western may have little to do with the Birmingham of the early 20th century. But "Godless" conveys a similar sense of lawlessness, toxic masculinity, power struggles and moral gray areas. The miniseries revolves around a notorious gangster who is hunted by his own men after a betrayal and finds refuge in a city full of women. The series impresses with strong characters, intense duels and a melancholy mood that should appeal to fans of Tommy Shelby's inner conflicts.

Sons of Anarchy: modern outlaws, old rules

Even though "Sons of Anarchy" is set in the present day and focuses on motorcycle gangs, it shares many DNA strands with "Peaky Blinders": a charismatic but broken main character, loyalty as the supreme law, violence as a daily tool and a family that is both a strength and a weak point. The series tells the story of Jax Teller, who tries to lead his father's club into a better future – much like Tommy Shelby, who constantly wavers between tradition and change. The dynamics within the gang often seem like a modern version of the Shelby family, only with motorcycles instead of razor blades in caps.

Conclusion: plenty of material for fans of the Shelbys

Whether historical gangsters, modern outlaws or dark political intrigue - there are more series in the style of "Peaky Blinders" than you might think. Each of the series mentioned picks up on elements that make the world of the Shelbys so fascinating: moral gray areas, strong characters, violence, power games and atmospheric worlds. So if you're looking for new series fodder, there's plenty of material for long nights.
