Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back: the first trailer for "Freaky Friday 2"
The film opens in cinemas on 8 August

Fans of the cult body-swap comedy "Freaky Friday" can rejoice: the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel "Freaky Friday 2" is in the starting blocks –starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, of course!
The first rumors about a sequel emerged back in 2023 when Jamie Lee Curtis was repeatedly asked about "Freaky Friday" during the "Halloween Ends" promo tour. The Oscar winner then took the initiative herself and approached Disney to initiate part 2. A script was commissioned and the sequel was officially announced in May 2023.
After filming began in June 2024, Disney not only presented the official title of the film at its own D23 trade fair, but also the first images. The sequel is called "Freakier Friday" and promises an even more chaotic and humorous body swap story than the original.
Return of familiar faces
In addition to the two main actresses, many familiar faces are also returning: Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao are all back. A number of new cast members have also been announced, including Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Manny Jacinto.
The announcement of the role of "The Acolyte" shooting star Manny Jacinto caused a particular stir. Jamie Lee Curtis revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he will play the husband of Lohan's character – although no further details have been revealed. Jacinto, known from "The Good Place" and "Top Gun: Maverick", last made headlines as a Sith warrior in "The Acolyte" and now brings his charismatic screen presence to the comedy.
Cinema release
Fans won't have to wait much longer: "Freakier Friday" opens in German cinemas on August 8 this year. Expectations are high – it remains to be seen whether the sequel can build on the success of the original. The body-swapping comedy is directed by "Late Night" director Nisha Ganatra.
