Chris Rock to direct biopic about Martin Luther King
The biography "King: A Life" by Jonathan Eigs is to serve as a template
Chris Rock is getting serious: The well-known comedian is to make a film about the famous civil rights activist Martin Luther King and is getting support from Steven Spielberg.
Chris Rock - who is best known for his stand-ups - is to direct a film about Martin Luther King, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and is already in negotiations with Universal Pictures. The studio secured the rights to Jonathan Eig's biography "King: A Life," which was published in May and has already received a National Book Award nomination. The book has been described by its publisher Farrar as an intimate portrayal of King
"as a courageous man who demanded peaceful protests in the segregationist south, all the while grappling with his own frailties".
We're excited to see how the film will shape up under Chris Rock. His last film project "Saw: Spiral" could not really convince fans of the series.
