Amazon Secures the Rights to "Beekeeper 2"
Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall
This beekeeper is worth a fortune: Amazon has secured the distribution rights to "The Beekeeper 2" and spent a considerable amount of money on it. According to Deadline magazine, the streaming giant has paid more than 50 million dollars to production studio Miramax for the Jason Statham sequel. Mind you, this is only for the rights – the film budget is on top of that. This is particularly daring because the total budget for part 1 already amounted to 40 million dollars. Amazon has therefore already spent more on part 2 than its predecessor cost – and that's before filming has even begun.
Anyone who is now worried that "The Beekeeper 2" will only be available for streaming: don't worry! Amazon MGM has already announced that the action is also coming to the big screen, at least in a few key territories. Action star Jason Statham is of course taking on the leading role once again. This time, the director is Timo Tjahjanto. With "The Night Comes for Us", he demonstrated that he is capable of badass action and so he will soon also be responsible for "Nobody 2" with Bob Odenkirk.
Part 1 told the story of a retired special agent seeking revenge after his kind-hearted landlady falls victim to a multi-million dollar scam. The movie was an international success, making 163 million US dollars at the box office worldwide. According to initial information, filming for "The Beekeeper 2" is set to begin in the fall of 2025 – so we can probably look forward to a release date in late 2026 or early 2027.

Movie Suggestions for Fans of "The Beekeeper": Dark, Merciless and Full of Revenge
If you enjoyed "The Beekeeper" with Jason Statham, you know what it is about: uncompromising action, a lone avenger with a dark past and a story in which morality and violence go hand in hand. The movie is a prime example of modern vengeance action with a touch of retro charm. If you're looking for more movies in this style, here are five hard-hitting recommendations that will get your adrenaline pumping in a similar way!
John Wick (2014)
When it comes to the genre of revenge, there's no way around "John Wick". The movie redefined the genre: stylish violence, a cryptic underworld system and an ex-killer seeking his peace of mind – until someone kills his dog. Keanu Reeves plays the role with stoic intensity, while director Chad Stahelski sets up visually stunning fights. Fans of "The Beekeeper" will love the uncompromising determination and sense of justice in a lawless world.

Nobody (2021)
A character who looks like an average family man quickly turns out to be a former killing machine. Bob Odenkirk surprises in "Nobody" with brutal physicality and a story reminiscent of John Wick, but with more irony. Here, too: a dormant form of violence that is awakened because evil has gone too far. The movie combines the brute force of "The Beekeeper" with black humor – an explosive combination.

The Equalizer (2014)
Denzel Washington plays a man with a past who can no longer hold back. When a young prostitute finds herself in danger, he turns back into a fighter – silent, efficient, lethal. "The Equalizer" is not a hectic action movie, but one that uses its violence with care. Anyone who appreciates the hero's motives in "The Beekeeper" will find plenty to enjoy in this movie.

Man on Fire (2004)
A classic among revenge films. Tony Scott's "Man on Fire" shows Denzel Washington as a devastated bodyguard who wants to avenge a kidnapped girl. The movie is emotionally charged, visually intense and psychologically more profound than many genre representatives. The intense action was particularly well received by action fans.
Peppermint (2018)
In "Peppermint", Jennifer Garner plays a mother who takes revenge on her murdered family. What makes the film special is the sheer energy of the main character and the uncompromising path she takes. Its plot is strongly reminiscent of "The Beekeeper": a human being against a corrupt system, with nothing but anger and the will to survive. Anyone looking for strong female roles will find it here.

Bonus Tip: Cold Pursuit (2019)
In this vicious thriller, Liam Neeson plays a snowplow driver who goes on a revenge campaign against a drug cartel. While the overall mood is almost satirical and contains black humor, the violence is real and the revenge merciless. A refreshing change for fans of vengeance movies with a somewhat different style.
Conclusion
If you liked "The Beekeeper", you probably love movies where justice doesn't come from a courtroom, but from the barrel of a gun. Be it devastated killers, vengeful parents or silent guardians of justice, these movies give you just that: resolute heroes, explosive action and a world where morality is often just a memory.
