Preparations for "Ocean's 14" are picking up speed – and now it seems clear who will be taking on the role of the antagonist.

According to Entertainment Weekly, none other than Andy Garcia is set to return for the iconic gang's new coup. Garcia has been an integral part of the "Ocean's" universe since part 1 and confirmed that he will once again slip into the character of the elegant casino mogul Terry Benedict.

In any case, the past suggests that the relationship between him and George Clooney's Danny Ocean continues to be anything but harmonious. After all, Benedict was already the central antagonist in the previous parts.

The script for the sequel has been around for some time. Now distributor Warner has finally given the green light for the budget. A rough schedule is also already known: According to it, filming is planned for next year. We may even be in for a big reunion with well-known stars from the series. Clooney has already explicitly mentioned four actors: Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Julia Roberts. We are excited!

Andy Garcia: A look at the most important films of his career

Andy Garcia has been one of Hollywood's most distinctive faces for decades. With his charismatic charisma, his intense acting and his ability to convincingly embody both heroes and shady characters, he has secured himself a permanent place in film history. Garcia has appeared in major cinema productions since the 1980s, regularly delivering roles that audiences will remember for a long time. A look at his best-known films shows not only the breadth of his talent, but also why he is still one of the most sought-after character actors today.

The Untouchables (1987)

Garcia's big breakthrough came with Brian De Palma's gangster classic "The Untouchables". Garcia played the young, loyal agent George Stone alongside Hollywood greats such as Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro and Sean Connery. His character not only brings moral integrity to the team, but also a calm determination that quickly wins the audience over. Particularly noteworthy is his interplay with Sean Connery, whose mentoring role opposite Garcia forms one of the most emotionally powerful levels of the film. This role opened the door for Garcia to other important film projects.

The Godfather: Part 3 (1990)

When it comes to Andy Garcia's most legendary roles, "The Godfather 3" is at the top of the list. In this epic conclusion to the Mafia saga, Garcia takes on the role of Vincent Mancini, the impulsive yet ambitious nephew of Michael Corleone. His portrayal of a man who vacillates between loyalty, lust for power and passion earned him an Oscar nomination for "Best Supporting Actor". Vincent is a character full of contradictions – charming but dangerous, impulsive but intelligent. Garcia filled this role with an intensity that finally catapulted him into the league of major Hollywood stars.

Ocean's Eleven (2001)

Garcia reached a new high point in his career with Danny Ocean's famous coup in "Ocean's Eleven". As unscrupulous casino owner Terry Benedict, he plays George Clooney's charming crook and embodies the perfect antagonist with cool elegance. Benedict is not loud or overexcited – he is controlled, dangerous and impressively strategic. Garcia manages to make this character both believable and fascinating, making it one of the most memorable elements of the entire trilogy. Due to the great success of the film, he also returned in "Ocean's Twelve" (2004) and "Ocean's Thirteen" (2007).

When a Man Loves a Woman (1994)

Away from his gangster roles, Garcia proves time and again that he can also carry emotional dramas brilliantly. In "When a Man Loves a Woman", he plays the husband of Meg Ryan's character, who is battling alcohol addiction. The film thrives on the intimate, sensitive moments between the two leading actors. Garcia shows an unusually vulnerable side here: his character Nick is caught between helplessness, love and frustration – a man who wants to save his family but reaches his own limits. This film impressively demonstrates how versatile Garcia can use his repertoire.

Black Rain (1989)

Under the direction of Ridley Scott, Garcia took on the role of the dutiful detective Charlie Vincent in "Black Rain". Partnering Michael Douglas' character, Garcia provides a strong moral contrast and quickly becomes the emotional anchor of the story. Although his screen time is limited, he impresses with a strong presence and leaves a lasting impression on the audience. This film in particular demonstrates Garcia's ability to not only hold his own in ensemble productions with many stars, but to hold his own.

The Mule (2018)

Garcia has also impressed in more recent productions. In Clint Eastwood's "The Mule", he plays a wealthy but discreet drug lord who hires Eastwood's character as a courier. Despite his comparatively small appearance, Garcia is extremely convincing – elegant, controlled and threatening at the same time. The film shows that even decades after his early successes, Garcia has not lost his aura and strength as a film actor.

Conclusion: An actor with an unmistakable signature

Andy Garcia is a master of nuances: he can portray thuggish gangsters just as credibly as vulnerable family men or ice-cold businessmen. His keen sense for roles that are morally complex or emotionally layered is particularly striking. His extensive body of work proves how versatile and long-lasting his career is. Whether in blockbusters, crime thrillers, dramas or large ensemble films, Garcia remains an actor whose presence enriches every production.
