The DCU is growing and growing: Deathstroke and Bane are now set to wreak havoc in a planned crossover film between the two villains!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script is to be penned by Matthew Orton, one of the writers of the upcoming "Captain America: Brave New World". It is not yet known who will direct the big clash.

The character Bane, created by writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan in the 90s, was born on a fictional Caribbean island in a prison, where he perfected his brutal fighting skills and was inspired by the teachings of numerous international criminals. He later underwent a lethal steroid test, which made him enormously strong, but also addicted to the serum. Bane became famous through the "Knightfall" story, in which he broke Batman's back. Bane has appeared in many video games and TV series – but he became particularly well-known through Tom Hardy's portrayal in "The Dark Knight Rises".

Deathstroke, on the other hand, was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez in 1980 as a villain for the Teen Titans and quickly became one of the most popular villains in the DC universe. The masterful assassin, known for his strategic ingenuity and fighting skills, took on Batman and the Justice League and starred in several comics. Esai Morales portrayed Deathstroke in the live-action series "Titans", while Joe Manganiello made a cameo appearance as the one-eyed killer in Zack Snyder's DC films.

It is currently unknown when we can expect the big Deathstroke-Bane crossover. However, it is already sure to be one of the most exciting projects in the new DCU.

The DCU: All Upcoming Movies at a Glance

James Gunn's DCU (DC Universe) is on the verge of an exciting reinvention. Together with Peter Safran, Gunn is leading the creative team at DC Studios and is planning a complete redesign of the superhero franchise. The two are working to unify the DCU and create a consistent, cohesive world, similar to the approach taken by Marvel, where Gunn himself enjoyed great success with "Guardians of the Galaxy". Here are some of the most exciting projects to come in this new era of the DCU.

1. Superman

Perhaps the biggest and most anticipated project in Gunn's DCU is "Superman", which is set to be released in 2025. Gunn himself will direct and write the screenplay, which has many fans excited. The film is said to focus on the early career of Clark Kent/Superman, specifically his attempt to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. The focus will be on the struggle to establish Superman as a hero with moral principles. It is expected that "Superman" will set the tone for the entire new DCU. Gunn has emphasized that the film is the centerpiece of his new universe. Release date is July 10, 2025.

2. The Authority

One of the most unexpected announcements is the adaptation of "The Authority". The superhero group originally comes from the Wildstorm universe and is known for its brutal methods. Unlike Superman or Batman, the members of "The Authority" do not refrain from using extreme violence to achieve their goals. They are a mixture of anti-heroes and ruthless justice fanatics who are prepared to shape the world according to their own ideas. This project could create interesting moral conflicts within the new DCU, especially in contrast to Superman's ideals.

3. The Brave and the Bold

Alongside Superman, Batman is of course also a central element of the DCU. However, "The Brave and the Bold" will not be based on the latest interpretations of Batman, but on a new version of the Dark Knight. The focus will be on the relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne, who will appear as the new Robin. Damian is a very unconventional Robin - he was trained by the Assassin's League and displays an aggressive, almost murderous attitude. This movie will bring the Bat-family dynamic to the forefront and potentially kick off a larger narrative centered around Batman in the new DCU.

4. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Another highlight is "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," a movie centered around Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin. While Superman grew up on Earth and was raised by a loving family, Kara had a much harsher childhood on a decaying Krypton. This contrast between Superman and Supergirl will be a central theme of the movie, and "Woman of Tomorrow" is expected to offer a darker, tougher interpretation of the Kryptonian heroine. "Supergirl" will be played by "House of the Dragon" star Milly Alcock.

5. Swamp Thing

A dark and sinister addition to the DCU is "Swamp Thing". This project will offer a horror-oriented tale about the eponymous creature that emerges from the swamps and possesses both herbal and supernatural powers. "Swamp Thing" is one of the creepier characters in the DC Universe and offers potential for a deeper exploration of the horror genre in the context of superhero films. The project is likely to appeal to more traditional horror movie fans who are less interested in classic superhero stories.
