Sadie Sink joins the cast of Avengers: Secret Wars
Sink could embody one of the most significant Marvel characters
Sadie Sink in the MCU! After the actress was already confirmed for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day", she is now joining the cast of "Avengers: Secret Wars", according to Deadline!
The involvement in "Secret Wars" strongly suggests that Sink is not playing a classic "Spider-Man" supporting character like Mary Jane. It is much more likely that she will take on a role that is part of the larger context of the upcoming MCU development. After "Secret Wars", Marvel is planning to officially introduce the "X-Men" into the MCU and thus launch a new overarching "mutant saga".
According to initial speculation, she could take on the role of Jean Grey. Grey is one of the most important characters in the "X-Men" cosmos and a key figure in the planned reboot. However, casting her as Rachel Cole-Alves is still not off the table either. After all, Sink was spotted wearing camouflage pants, combat boots and a military jacket during the filming of "Spider-Man 4".
Marvel is still keeping a low profile. We'll know more by December 17, 2027 at the latest, when "Avengers: Secret Wars" opens in cinemas.
Sadie Sink: From Broadway to Netflix
Sadie Sink is one of the most exciting young actresses of her generation. Ever since her spectacular performance in the hit series "Stranger Things", she has been one of the defining Hollywood faces of the 2020s. But her journey there began much earlier – on the stages of Broadway. A look at the talented actress's best-known and most important projects shows just how diverse her artistic repertoire is and why she is one of Hollywood's most promising stars today.
Broadway: The early beginnings
Before Sadie Sink gained a foothold in the film and series business, she first made a name for herself on Broadway. Even as a child, she appeared on stage in productions such as "Annie", where she took on the title role. Her stage presence, vocal strength and professional charisma attracted the attention of casting directors. This early success on the theater stage became the foundation for her later career in front of the camera – and already showed the young Texan's potential.
The Americans and Blue Bloods: first TV roles
Sink made her first appearances on television in well-known series such as "The Americans" and "Blue Bloods". Although these were minor roles, they served as important building blocks of experience. Here she learned how to work professionally on set and built a foundation that made it easier for her to make the leap into larger productions. These early TV experiences also proved that she was not only impressive on the theater stage, but also in front of the camera.
The breakthrough: Max Mayfield in Stranger Things
Sadie Sink's big international breakthrough came in 2017 when she joined the cast as Max Mayfield in the second season of the Netflix cult series "Stranger Things". Her role as a tough, rebellious outsider who nevertheless shows a vulnerable inner life was an audience favorite right from the start. Sink brought exactly the right mix of energy, sensitivity and emotional depth that the character required.
In the fourth season in particular, she moved to the center of the action. Her emotional scenes - including the much-discussed sequence with Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" – were celebrated worldwide and made her a definite A-list talent. Critics praised her acting strength, her natural screen presence and her ability to convey complex emotions authentically.
Fear Street trilogy: rise in the horror genre
Parallel to "Stranger Things", Sadie Sink took on a significant role in Netflix's "Fear Street" trilogy (2021), which is based on the books by R. L. Stine. In "Fear Street: 1978" she played Ziggy Berman, a central character in the plot. Her performance was received just as positively by fans of the horror genre as it was by critics.
The trilogy established Sink as a versatile actress who can play both coming-of-age drama and intense horror with believable depth. She proved that she could do far more than teen series roles, paving the way for more serious and challenging projects.
The Whale: Hollywood recognition
Another highlight of her career was her role in the Oscar-winning drama "The Whale" (2022) alongside Brendan Fraser. Sink played Ellie, the protagonist's estranged daughter – a complex character full of anger, pain and suppressed longing.
She earned rave reviews for her performance and was celebrated as an up-and-coming star who can easily hold her own against experienced Hollywood greats. "The Whale" impressively showed just how wide her emotional and acting range is.
Future prospects: Sadie Sink in the MCU
Since 2024, there have also been numerous rumors about her involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Regardless of possible roles, the discussion alone shows the importance she now has in Hollywood. Studios and fans see her as an actress with enormous charisma and long-term potential.
Sadie Sink has made the leap from Broadway child actress to international film star in just a few years. With each new role, she proves her versatility and depth – and there is every indication that many more major projects will follow.
