James Wan is directing the new Saw film!

Good news for all "Saw" fans! In an interview at the Sundance Film Festival, horror mastermind James Wan revealed that he will be directing the new "Saw" film.
Wan also made it clear where the journey will take us: The new "Saw" film is to be based heavily on the first film in the series in terms of tone and atmosphere. This means more suspense and psychological horror instead of pure gimmickry. The screenplay is being written by Leigh Whannell, who was most recently responsible for "Wolf Man" and "The Invisible Man".
There are also some changes behind the scenes: The rights to the brand will be jointly held by Blumhouse Productions and Lionsgate in future. Blumhouse will take over 50 percent of the franchise, while Lionsgate will remain involved as a production and distribution partner. A release date for the next "Saw" film has not yet been set.
