Fans of the "Harry Potter" universe can look forward to a special reunion: according to Deadline, Warwick Davis will once again slip into the role of Professor Filius Flitwick in the upcoming series adaptation.

The British actor, who played both the charming wizardry professor Flitwick and the goblin Griphook in the "Harry Potter" films, will focus exclusively on the character of the professor this time. Griphook is played in the series by "Joker" actor Leigh Gill.

Several new additions were also announced as part of the "Back to Hogwarts" celebrations. Elijah Oshin takes on the role of Dean Thomas, the Gryffindor student who was played by Alfred Enoch in the films. Dean, the son of a witch and a clueless Muggle father, was a close friend of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Iconic Slytherin students Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle were also recast: Finn Stephens and William Nash are following in the footsteps of Jamie Waylett and Josh Herdman, who made their mark on the roles in the films. The two pure-blood wizards were known for their loyalty to Draco Malfoy, who is played by Lox Pratt in the series.

In addition to the student roles, some well-known Hogwarts teachers have also been confirmed: Sirine Saba, known from "Doctor Who" among others, takes on the role of Professor Sprout, the warm-hearted but resolute Head of Hufflepuff House, who is known for her expertise in Herbology. Richard Durden will play Professor Cuthbert Binns, the only ghost teacher at Hogwarts who appears in J.K. Rowling's books but was never shown in the films. Bríd Brennan will also be seen in the role of the nurse Madam Pomfrey.

Warwick Davis: A versatile character actor and his best-known roles

Warwick Davis is one of the best-known and most versatile actors of his generation. With a height of 107 cm due to the rare form of short stature called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, he was cast early on in roles that required masks and costumes. But Davis has managed to establish himself over the decades not only as a talented character actor, but also as a producer and entrepreneur. His career is characterized by iconic roles in "Star Wars", "Harry Potter" and numerous fantasy and cult films.

Breakthrough as Wicket: Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983)

Warwick Davis was only 11 years old when he got his first film role. He was originally only supposed to appear as an extra, but George Lucas was so impressed by Davis' energy and enthusiasm that he gave him the role of Ewok Wicket W. Warrick. Wicket became one of the most charming characters in the saga and remains a fan favorite to this day. Davis also played the character in the spin-off films "Caravan of Courage" (1984) and "Battle for Endor" (1985). This early success paved the way for him in Hollywood.

Starring as Willow Ufgood: Willow (1988)

Davis' first leading role was in Ron Howard's fantasy epic "Willow", which was produced by George Lucas. Here he embodied the kind-hearted farmer Willow Ufgood, who reluctantly becomes a hero. This role was a milestone for Davis, as he appeared without a mask and his acting skills came into their own. "Willow" became a cult movie, and in 2022 Davis returned to the role in the Disney+ series "Willow". His portrayal made him a figure of identification for many fantasy fans.

Cult status through horror: Leprechaun (1993-2003)

In the 1990s, Davis showed a completely different side to his skills when he played a murderous goblin in the horror comedy series "Leprechaun". With his black humor and distinctive acting, Davis became the heart of the series, which comprised a total of six films. The "Leprechaun" films achieved cult status and showed that Davis could shine in any genre.

Magical double role: Harry Potter (2001-2011)

Davis played two roles in the film adaptations of J.K. Rowling's bestselling series: Firstly, the charming and amiable potions professor Filius Flitwick, and secondly, the goblin banker Griphook, who plays a crucial role in the last two films. Davis' ability to credibly embody different characters with make-up and special effects contributed significantly to the magic of the films.

Marvin: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)

In the film adaptation of the Douglas Adams classic, Davis took on the physical role of the depressive robot Marvin, while Alan Rickman provided the voice. This unusual combination made Marvin one of the weirdest and at the same time most endearing characters in the film.

Oberon: Ray (2004)

In addition to his fantasy and science fiction roles, Davis was also convincing in more serious productions. In the Oscar-winning biopic "Ray" about the life of Ray Charles, he played Oberon, the owner of a nightclub. This role also showed Davis' talent beyond costumes and masks and proved his versatility as an actor.

Further work and honors

In addition to his acting career, Davis founded the casting agency "Willow Management", which specializes in actors of small stature, and is involved in various charity organizations. In 2025, he received a BAFTA Fellowship for his lifetime achievement, one of the highest awards in the British film and television industry.

Conclusion: An actor with incredible range

Warwick Davis is more than just a fantasy or science fiction actor. His career shows a remarkable range: from the lovable hero in "Willow" to the cult horror villain in "Leprechaun" to iconic roles in two of the greatest film series of all time, "Star Wars" and "Harry Potter". His humor, versatility and dedication have made him a legend that shines far beyond his stature.
