Consequently, there's speculation that it will be unveiled during today's "The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct." During a 30-minute livestream, Nintendo plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of "Zelda" with news about the franchise – and movie fans might get to enjoy the first trailer. The fact that the film adaptation of "The Legend of Zelda" is so eagerly anticipated is primarily due to the extremely successful Nintendo video game series on which it is based, which has enjoyed immense popularity since 1986. The fantasy game series was created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. It centers on the elf-like hero Link and Princess Zelda, who protect the magical land of Hyrule. Exactly what the film adaptation will be about is not yet clear. However, the creative minds behind the film have already been confirmed: Wes Ball is the director, and T. S. Nowlin the writer of the screenplay. The two had previously collaborated on the "Maze Runner" films. The two lead actors have also been known for some time. Link will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, and Princess Zelda by Bo Bragason.
A few weeks ago, reports surfaced about several other stars who are set to appear in "The Legend of Zelda." Among others, Dichen Lachman and Yvonne Strahovski are said to be joining the cast. Lachman is apparently set to play Impa, a bodyguard and advisor to Princess Zelda. There is currently less clear information about Strahovski's character, but it is said to be the role of a queen. Lachman is known for her roles in series such as "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Severance." Strahovski has appeared in the series "Dexter" and "The Handmaid's Tale."

In addition to Lachman and Strahovski, Uli Latukefu is said to have landed the role of the main villain, Ganondorf – a powerful warlock king who seeks to subjugate the kingdom of Hyrule. Latukefu previously appeared in the sci-fi horror film "Alien: Covenant", among other projects. In addition, insider Daniel Richtman has mentioned another character: the goddess Hylia, who is reportedly set to be portrayed by "Ready or Not" actress Samara Weaving.
Particularly moving for fans: It has been reported that Sam Neill will appear posthumously in the "Zelda" film adaptation. It remains to be seen what role he will play. It is said to be one of Neill's final on-screen performances – if not the very last – to be captured on film before his death. Neill passed away on July 13 at the age of 78. Most viewers will likely remember him for his role as paleontologist Alan Grant, which he played in Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster "Jurassic Park."
