Russell Crowe takes on a role in the "Highlander" reboot

There can only be one – but there seems to be room for two big screen stars in the upcoming "Highlander" reboot. Collider magazine has exclusively revealed that none other than Oscar-winner Russell Crowe will be starring alongside Henry Cavill.

According to consistent reports from Deadline and other industry portals, Crowe will take on the role of the mentor – the character played by Sean Connery in the first "Highlander" film.

The reboot of "Highlander" was long considered a project that never really got off the ground. However, with "John Wick" director Chad Stahelski at the helm and production set to start in the fall, the film finally seems to be picking up speed. As Stahelski revealed in an interview, the new film will not just be a remake, but a comprehensive development of the saga.
