Daniel Craig Will Not Appear in DC's Sgt. Rock
There are already speculations about who will replace Craig
The planned DCU film "Sgt. Rock" has lost its actor: according to media reports, Daniel Craig was originally supposed to be part of the cast. However, The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that this is not the case anymore.
According to the report, the actor is no longer involved in the project. According to the portal, the reasons for this are unclear. It is possible that the project did not fit into Craig's schedule. Either way, DCU boss James Gunn and director Luca Guadagnino will now have to make do without him.
Sgt. Rock
At the center of the comic book adaptation "Sgt. Rock" is Sergeant Franklin John Rock, a soldier and the leader of Easy Company during the Second World War. The character has existed since 1959 and has since appeared in numerous comic books.
Luca Guadagnino will continue as the director of the film. "Challengers" with Zendaya and "Call Me by Your Name" with Timothée Chalamet are two of the director's most popular films. Daniel Craig played the lead role in his last film "Queer", for which he received much praise. "Sgt. Rock" was supposed to be the pair's next project, but now Guadagnino has to look for a new actor.
Jeremy Allen White in Sgt. Rock?
The Hollywood Reporter immediately mentions a name that is currently in circulation. Among others, "The Bear" star Jeremy Allen White is said to be in discussions for "Sgt. Rock". He recently won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in "The Bear". He also appeared in all eleven seasons of the popular dramedy "Shameless".
It probably won't be too long before we know for sure. After all, "Sgt. Rock" is due to be filmed in the UK this summer. In the DC universe, the new "Superman" awaits us in cinemas on July 11, 2025.

The films of Luca Guadagnino
Call Me by Your Name
"Call Me by Your Name" is perhaps Guadagnino's best-known film and the one that brought him to international attention. Based on the novel of the same name by André Aciman, the film tells the tender and unforgettable love story between 17-year-old Elio (Timothée Chalamet) and 24-year-old Oliver (Armie Hammer), an American student who spends the summer with Elio and his family in Italy. The film is a sensual exploration of passion and loss. Guadagnino captures summertime Italy with incredible visual warmth and creates an intimate portrait of first love. "Call Me by Your Name" also made Timothée Chalamet a celebrated star.

Suspiria
With "Suspiria", Guadagnino took a drastic step into a different genre by reinterpreting Dario Argento's cult classic from 1977. The film, a horror and psychological thriller, is set in a dance academy where supernatural and disturbing events unfold. Guadagnino transformed the original work into a dark, visually stunning reinterpretation that explores themes of power, femininity and control. In contrast to the original, which focused on atmosphere in a shocking way, Guadagnino's "Suspiria" is a slow but equally disturbing psychological horror film. Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton deliver remarkable performances. The film received mixed reviews, but was hailed by many as a bold and artistically ambitious approach to a genre.

Bones and All
With "Bones and All", Guadagnino returned to a profound but eerie story that combines elements of the horror film and coming-of-age genres. The film follows two young misfits, Maren (Taylor Russell) and Lee (Timothée Chalamet), as they embark on a dark journey through the American backcountry. "Bones and All" deals with themes such as love, isolation and cannibalism.

Challengers
Set in the world of professional tennis, "Challengers" was one of the highlights of the 2024 movie year. The story revolves around a complex love triangle between three former friends and rivals: Tashi (Zendaya), Art (Mike Faist) and Patrick (Josh O'Connor). In this film, Guadagnino combines tension with deep emotional conflicts and themes such as jealousy, ambition and self-realization. "Challengers" is characterized by its psychological depth and intense exploration of its characters' personal and professional struggles, focusing on the conflicts triggered by sport and interpersonal relationships. Furthermore, the film is impressively staged and the pulsating score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross adds to the extraordinary atmosphere.

Queer
In "Queer", Luca Guadagnino dedicates himself to a courageous, experimental film that deals with the identity and cultural conflicts of the LGBTQ+ community. In "Queer", Guadagnino brings his ability to visualize intimacy and identity issues to life. Daniel Craig is convincing in the lead role of Guadagnino's latest film.
