New Scorsese Film with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt in development
The Scorsese and DiCaprio duo has already made six films together
This new film has some big names in it: As the industry portal Deadline reports, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Emily Blunt are to star in the next work by master director Martin Scorsese! In terms of the plot, we can once again expect a familiar Scorsese theme...
Plot
Of course, it's all about gangster stories and the mafia. The movie deals with the turbulent times of the 60s and 70s in Hawaii. During this time, a charismatic mafia boss rises to power with the aim of building the most powerful criminal empire on the island. The film is based on true events and is intended to depict an epic American mafia story. Deadline describes the project as a mixture of the Scorsese films "Goodfellas" and "The Departed".
Cast
Leonardo DiCaprio is now set to star in another film with Martin Scorsese. The two have already worked on numerous projects together, including "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "The Departed". Fans also know the "Inception" star from a number of other films such as "Django Unchained" and "The Revenant".
A collaboration between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Martin Scorsese, on the other hand, is more surprising. After all, the wrestler has mainly worked in the action genre so far. He is, of course, best known from the "Fast and Furious" franchise and the "Jumanji" series.
Emily Blunt is known for her roles in Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer", the time-loop film "Edge of Tomorrow" and the "A Quiet Place" series, among others. Together with Dwayne Johnson, she could be seen in the adventure film "Jungle Cruise".
It will probably be some time before the film is released in cinemas. Despite his advanced age, Scorsese is still a busy man and has other film projects in the works. We are definitely looking forward to seeing what the master director delivers next.

Gangs of New York
The first film that Scorsese and DiCaprio made together was the historical epic "Gangs of New York". In this gritty drama set in 19th century New York, DiCaprio plays the role of Amsterdam Vallon, a man seeking revenge on Bill "The Butcher" (Daniel Day-Lewis), the leader of a criminal gang. "Gangs of New York" marked the beginning of a long-standing collaboration.
The Aviator
"The Aviator" showed DiCaprio in the role of the famous film producer and aircraft manufacturer Howard Hughes. In this 2004 biopic, DiCaprio succeeds in embodying the inner turmoil and madness of the millionaire entrepreneur who struggles with his own demons. "The Aviator" is a film about the boundless ambition and self-destruction of a man who left the world behind to pursue his visions.
The Departed
In 2006, the collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio reached new heights with "The Departed". The thriller can be described as a remake of the great Hong Kong film "Infernal Affairs". DiCaprio plays Billy Costigan, an undercover cop who is infiltrated into the Irish mafia in order to catch criminal boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson). The film, which also stars Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg in important roles, is a masterful game of deception, betrayal and moral ambiguity. "The Departed" is considered one of the best thrillers of the 00s.
Shutter Island
"Shutter Island" is a psychological thriller in which DiCaprio once again acted under the direction of Scorsese. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane and follows a US marshal (DiCaprio) who searches for a missing inmate in a psychiatric hospital on a remote island. But the deeper he delves into the hospital's secrets, the more he himself is plagued by his own fears and doubts. The film is a fascinating play on the perception of reality and the human psyche.

The Wolf of Wall Street
With "The Wolf of Wall Street", Scorsese returned with an energetic, provocative work. The film is based on the memoirs of investment banker Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio) , who built up a billion-dollar business through illegal financial practices in the 1990s. "The Wolf of Wall Street" is an over-the-top, eccentric and satirical look at the American dream and the moral corruption of the financial sector. DiCaprio delivers one of his best performances and received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal. The film was critically acclaimed and was well received by audiences.

Killers of the Flower Moon
"Killers of the Flower Moon" is an epic historical drama by Martin Scorsese, based on the book of the same name by David Grann. The film is set in the 1920s and tells the true story of the Osage Nation, an indigenous community in Oklahoma that became immensely wealthy after the discovery of oil on their land. But this wealth attracted unscrupulous white settlers who robbed the Osage of their fortune through fraud, manipulation and murder.
