Maximum Destruction: Don't Miss These New Monster & Alien Movies!

Giant titans, ravenous demons, and bloodthirsty creatures from the depths of space: monster fans are in for a treat in the coming months! There have been some exciting new developments, especially when it comes to big creature features. From the return of legendary franchises like "Jurassic World" to brand-new dark horror concepts: 2026 and 2027 look set to deliver plenty of monstrous thrills! Here are the most exciting upcoming monster and alien movies to look forward to!

Godzilla x Kong: Supernova

Let's kick things off with the undisputed King of the Monsters. The MonsterVerse continues to expand, bringing us its next colossal spectacle to theaters with "Godzilla x Kong: Supernova". Early leaks confirm what many have long suspected: this time, the battle is against SpaceGodzilla! This legendary fan favorite could put the balance of power on Earth to the ultimate test.

The film is directed by Grant Sputore. Returning to the screen is Dan Stevens, who reprises his role from the previous installment. The cast also welcomes high-profile additions such as Kaitlyn Dever and Sam Neill. The ultimate cinematic destruction arrives in theaters on March 26, 2027.

Jurassic World 5

When it comes to giant dinosaurs, the "Jurassic" franchise clearly cannot be left out. Filming for the fifth installment is reportedly set to begin as early as this fall, including the return of Scarlett Johansson under the direction of Gareth Edwards. While these insider reports have yet to be officially confirmed, a fast production schedule wouldn't be unusual for the new team. A release for "Jurassic World 5" as early as late 2027 or sometime in 2028 is therefore certainly possible. We'll keep you posted!

A Quiet Place 3

We're sticking with the survival horror genre: the apocalyptic franchise "A Quiet Place", centered around sound-sensitive aliens, is returning for another installment! Following the prequel "Day One", "A Quiet Place 3" is set to hit theaters on July 30, 2027. The best news for fans: John Krasinski is once again taking full creative control of the project! Just like with the first film, Krasinski will not only pen the screenplay and serve as producer, but will also direct the movie himself. We can't wait to see what he has in store!

Godzilla Minus Zero

MonsterVerse Godzilla is nice and all – but of course there's really only one original. Following the Oscar-winning box office hit "Godzilla Minus One", the Japanese filmmakers are stepping it up: the sequel "Godzilla Minus Zero" is set to raise the spectacle to an entirely new level. Once again, director Takashi Yamazaki is attached to the project – but this time with a significantly bigger budget. The release is scheduled for November 6, 2026. So are you more Team MonsterVerse or Team Original? We say: as long as there's plenty of action, we're in!

Evil Dead Burn & Evil Dead Wrath

You like it gory? Then pay attention: the horror franchise "Evil Dead" has not one, but two new entries on the way! First up, on July 10, 2026, we can look forward to "Evil Dead Burn" directed by Sébastien Vaniček. And even before that movie hits theaters, filming has already wrapped on "Evil Dead Wrath" by Francis Galluppi – with a planned release date of April 7, 2028. This might sound like some kind of assembly-line production, but there's actually an idea behind it. The approach adopted by producer and "Evil Dead" mastermind Sam Raimi is to support young, creative horror directors who take on the Necronomicon saga with their own unique style. The result isn't one big cohesive storyline, but rather the classic "Evil Dead" experience – always with a distinct, individual touch.

Resident Evil

Reboot attempt number 2: "Resident Evil" is getting another shot at the big screen! What makes this project so incredibly exciting is director Zach Cregger. Horror fans know him for standout genre films like "Weapons" and the surprise hit "Barbarian". He's considered a master at building suspense. Could his style be exactly what a "Resident Evil" movie needs? Find out in theaters, starting September 18, 2026!

Gremlins 3

Monsters don't always have to be huge. A true cult classic is set to make a comeback soon: after almost 38 years, the "Gremlins" are returning to theaters in late 2027! Veteran filmmaker Chris Columbus, who already worked on the screenplay for the original 1984 film, is taking over directing duties this time and is also writing the script. Steven Spielberg is once again on board as a producer.

But here's where things get controversial: a big part of what made the old films so special was the hand puppets. The success of Part 3 will largely depend on whether the look and feel can deliver. Werwulf

2026 is going to end on a very atmospheric note: director Robert Eggers, who has already proven himself with visually stunning masterpieces like "Nosferatu" and "The VVitch", is once again taking on an absolute classic: "Werwulf"! The cast remains largely unchanged from his previous film, with the return of Willem Dafoe, Lily-Rose Depp, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, among others. One thing's for sure: with Eggers, we're not getting a popcorn movie, but rather a mind-blowing, historically grounded dive into the myth of werewolves. The movie arrives in theaters on December 25, 2026.

Primitive War 2

"Primitive War" was a bit of a surprise hit in 2025. Essentially, every aspect of it seems like low-budget trash – yet the dinosaur action really struck a chord with audiences. One thing is for certain: a sequel is a must! In "Primitive War 2", we're in for another wild genre mix: the Vietnam War meets survival horror, topped off with a touch of science fiction. Director Luke Sparke is once again taking on multiple roles behind the scenes, including writing and producing. The release is planned for 2027.

The End of Oak Street

Let's stick with the dinosaurs. Things are about to get really mysterious on August 14, 2026: "The End of Oak Street" is a brand-new sci-fi survival film from "It Follows" director David Robert Mitchell. A cosmic event rips an idyllic suburb completely out of reality and transports it to a hostile place full of monstrous phenomena. Featuring a strong cast including Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, we can expect a top-notch survival mystery.

Kraken

There's something for fans of underwater monsters as well: coming to select US theaters on July 12, 2026, "Kraken" will let us dive into uncharted waters. This Norwegian monster horror film promises intense creature fright from Scandinavia, as a gigantic sea monster lurking in a fjord makes the headlines after a series of mysterious deaths.

Hope

Bringing our list to a grand close is a true epic: the sci-fi action thriller "Hope" from "The Wailing" director Na Hong-jin. With a massive budget and stars like Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, what begins as a local tiger hunt in South Korea escalates into a cosmic nightmare involving an inexplicable creature. A true hidden gem! The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on September 9, 2026.
