Disney fans have something to look forward to! "Lilo & Stitch 2" is set to hit theaters on May 26, 2028. The director for the sequel has finally been confirmed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Sanders, who co-created the 2002 animated film, will direct the project. Sanders has close ties to the story of the unusual duo Lilo and Stitch. Not only did he create the character of the chaotic alien, but he also voiced Stitch in both the animated classic and the live-action film. He also served as a screenwriter on the live-action adaptation.
Filming for Part 2 is set to begin later this year. However, this will not be a traditional sequel, but rather an entirely new story. "Lilo & Stitch" became a billion-dollar hit for Disney last year. In the U.S. alone, the film grossed approximately $423.7 million.

In 2006, "Leroy & Stitch" marked the conclusion of the original film series and, at the same time, the finale of the successful animated series.
