The Batman 2 Postponed to 2027
There is no script yet
Fans of the Dark Knight will have to exercise patience for some more time: "The Batman 2" has been postponed by another year to 2027.
Originally, the release was planned for October 2025. It was then pushed back to October 2026 and now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a theatrical release has been set for October 1, 2027. Warner Bros. stated that the release was postponed to give director Matt Reeves and his team sufficient time to make a high-quality sequel. However, the main reason for the delay is that there is still no script.
DC boss Gunn argues that longer breaks between sequels are relatively normal. He points to examples such as "Alien" and "Aliens ", which were seven years apart. There was even a 13-year gap between "Avatar" and "Avatar: The Way of Water" – which was released in 2022.
There are also rumors that there will be a big time jump within Matt Reeves' film series, as Robert Pattinson will be around 40 years old during the filming of "The Batman 2". Filming is currently expected to begin in fall 2025.
