Nobody would have expected this! After Robert Downey Jr., the next MCU veteran is now joining the cast of "Avengers: Doomsday", as reported by The Wrap: The talk is of Captain America Chris Evans!

How the actor will be involved in "Avengers: Doomsday" is still a secret. After all, he did make his farewell appearance as Steve Rogers in "Avengers: Endgame" and passed on his shield to Anthony Mackie. But as we know: Anything is possible in the multiverse. A return as a variant of Steve Rogers would be entirely conceivable.

"Avengers: Doomsday" could be a veritable treat for comic fans. The heroes confirmed so far include the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts. We will also get to see Doctor Strange and Peter Parker aka Spider-Man again. The Avengers team will once again be led by Captain America – this time in the form of Sam Wilson.

Little is yet known about the plot. However, early indications suggest that Dr. Doom is trying to create the Battleworld. At the end of the multiverse saga in "Avengers: Secret Wars", there will be a huge event in which the Avengers have to face off against the X-Men.

"Avengers: Doomsday" will be released on May 1, 2026 and will once again be directed by the Russo brothers.

Chris Evans: An Impressive Career Between Superheroes and Versatile Roles

Chris Evans has established himself as one of Hollywood's best-known and most versatile actors over the past two decades. With his iconic role as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he made his mark on an entire generation of film fans. But his career extends far beyond superhero costumes and includes notable roles in dramas, comedies and thrillers.

The Beginnings: First Steps in the Film World

Chris Evans was born on June 13, 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts. He developed an interest in acting at an early age and moved to New York City to start his career. His first roles were in television series such as "Opposite Sex" (2000), where he was able to showcase his acting talent for the first time. However, his big breakthrough was not long in coming.

In 2001, Evans attracted attention with the leading role in the teen comedy "Not Another Teen Movie". The parody of well-known high school movies established him as the face of youthful humor in the early 2000s. Although the role did not require much depth, Evans already showed his ability to be both charming and self-deprecating.

First Steps as a Superhero: Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four

Chris Evans' first foray into the world of superheroes was his portrayal of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in the "Fantastic Four" films (2005 and 2007). These films were inspired by the Marvel comics, but were not part of the MCU. Evans brought the funky and hot-headed character to the big screen with a mixture of humor and levity, making him popular with comic fans and mainstream audiences alike. Despite mixed reviews of the movies themselves, Evans' performance was a highlight and laid the foundations for his later success in the superhero genre.

The Breakthrough: Captain America and the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The turning point in Evans' career came in 2011, when he took on the lead role in "Captain America: The First Avenger". His portrayal of patriotic super-soldier Steve Rogers gave the character both strength and vulnerability. This duality ran through his entire career in the MCU and became a central aspect of Evans' popularity.

His debut was followed by numerous other appearances in the MCU, including "The Avengers" (2012), "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014) and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019). The second "Captain America" film in particular is often regarded as one of the best films in the MCU. In this gritty political thriller, Evans proved that he can not only be an action hero, but also a character actor.

His performance in "Avengers: Endgame" brought Steve Rogers' journey to an emotional conclusion. The movie became one of the most successful movies of all time and underlined Evans' importance to the franchise. However, during his time in the MCU, he was not only an actor, but also a moral authority who often championed social and political issues.

Beyond Marvel: Diversity and New Challenges

Despite his status as one of the greatest superhero actors of his time, Evans also continually sought out roles that expanded his acting range. One of his most notable appearances outside the MCU was in "Knives Out" (2019), a crime thriller by Rian Johnson. Evans played the charming but deceitful Ransom Drysdale, showing that he can also shine in antagonistic roles.

Another highlight was his leading role in the mini-series "Defending Jacob" (2020) on Apple TV+. Here he played a lawyer who has to deal with the accusation that his son is a murderer. This role allowed him to demonstrate his talent for emotional and complex characters.

Evans was also featured in the animated film "Lightyear" (2022), in which he provided the voice of Buzz Lightyear. Although the film received mixed reviews, Evans once again showed his versatility and ability to appeal to a wide audience.

Collaboration with the Russo Brothers

Evans developed a special professional relationship with the Russo brothers, who directed several Marvel films. This collaboration also continued outside the MCU, for example in "The Gray Man" (2022), an action thriller in which Evans played a charismatic villain. His performance as the eccentric antagonist Lloyd Hansen was praised by critics for his humorous and terrifying portrayal.

Current Projects and Future Prospects

In recent years, Chris Evans has focused on a mixture of blockbusters and smaller projects. His most recent movies include "Pain Hustlers" (2023), a crime drama with Emily Blunt, and the romantic action comedy "Ghosted" (2023), in which he was once again seen alongside Ana de Armas.

Evans can currently be seen in "Red One", a Christmas adventure film from Amazon with Dwayne Johnson. With his return to the MCU for "Avengers: Doomsday" (2026), he will once again delight fans worldwide.

A Legacy Beyond the Big Screen

Chris Evans is not only known for his roles, but also for his commitment outside of the movie world. He is an advocate of social justice and founded the platform "A Starting Point" to promote political education.
