Coco 2 in Development
The film is due to be released in cinemas in 2029
We're going back to the realm of the dead: Pixar scored a real hit with "Coco" – the animated film made over 800 million dollars. Plenty of reason to make "Coco 2", which is now in development according to Variety.
During the company's annual shareholders' meeting, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the company is actively working on "Coco 2" and is targeting a release date in 2029.
Although few details about the plot are known so far, Iger promised that the movie will once again be full of emotion, adventure and rousing music. Another highlight for fans: original director Lee Unkrich is returning to co-direct with Adrian Molina. Molina was already involved in the first "Coco" film as co-director and screenwriter and made a significant contribution to its success. Mark Nielsen, a Pixar veteran who was responsible for "Toy Story 4" and "Inside Out 2" among others, will take over production.
In addition to "Coco 2", Pixar is also working on other sequels: These include the hotly anticipated sequels "Toy Story 5" and "Incredibles 3".
