News from the world of the DCU: Now that a leading actress has been found for the character of "Supergirl" in the form of "House of the Dragon" star Milly Alcock, things are also happening in terms of directing.

According to Deadline, "Cruella" director Craig Gillespie is in close negotiations with Warner. The plan is to start shooting "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" in the fourth quarter of this year, after production on James Gunn's "Superman" has been completed.

James Gunn revealed some insights into the interpretation of Supergirl at a DC Studios press conference at the beginning of last year: the character will be drastically different from previous interpretations. In Gunn's words, Kara Zor-El's background story is described as "more hardcore", as she had to witness her entire environment being wiped out in her first years of life. Superman, on the other hand, was raised by loving parents on Earth - a stark contrast, so to speak.

It is currently assumed that Supergirl will make her first appearance in "Superman", which is still scheduled for July 10, 2025. Her own film could then be released in cinemas as early as 2026 or 2027.
