Avengers: Doomsday, Toy Story 5 & The Incredibles 3: These are the highlights of D23!
The title for "Ice Age 6" has been announced!
This year, D23 took place once again at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. For three days, Disney gave its fans exclusive insights into upcoming productions, including "Avengers: Doomsday", "Toy Story 5" and "The Incredibles 3". We have summarized all the highlights for you!
Hexed, Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2
Let's start with the presentation of the new animated film "Hexed". The story takes place in a world where magic rarely works the way you expect it to. Disney already presented the first scenes at the Expo, which delighted the audience. The film is scheduled for release in November 2026. With this project, Disney wants to build on successes such as "Vaiana" and "Encanto" and create another modern fairy tale in the tradition of the great animated classics.
Pixar provided just as much food for thought with news about "Toy Story 5". Although many fans regarded the fourth part as a successful conclusion to the series, Pixar is convinced that the iconic characters Woody and Buzz still have a lot to tell – especially in a world that is increasingly shaped by digital media. The film is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026. The return of the popular toys promises not only nostalgia, but also an emotional exploration of friendship and belonging.
The sequel "Zootopia 2" also came with new impressions. Audiences can once again look forward to Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman. New characters, voiced by Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster, are set to bring a breath of fresh air to the story. Musically, the film will be accompanied by a song by Ed Sheeran and a soundtrack by Michael Giacchino. The premiere is scheduled for November 26, 2025.
Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel fans, on the other hand, came up a little short: many had hoped for a first trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday". Instead, however, there was a teaser in which the already confirmed cast members were introduced once again. A fake poster also caused a stir online, showing the Avengers on one side and Dr. Doom on the other. The director brothers Anthony and Joe Russo spoke at the event via video message. Paul Rudd, who once again takes on the role of Scott Lang aka Ant-Man in "Doomsday", also made a short contribution.
The cast of the film includes Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom aka Doctor Doom, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic and Tom Hiddleston in his well-known role as Loki. According to initial information, the new "Avengers" film will set new standards in superhero cinema and be extremely dark.
Ice Age 5: Boiling Point
The animation studio Blue Sky, now part of Disney, announced the title of "Ice Age 6". This is "Boiling Point". In it, Manny, Sid and Diego have to assert themselves in a world full of volcanoes and dinosaurs. Although the last parts have met with mixed reactions, the series continues to be very popular with families. The theatrical release is scheduled for February 5, 2027.
With "The Incredibles 3", another adventure of the popular superhero family is being planned, although it is not due to be released in cinemas until 2028. The hand-painted animated film "Gatto" by "Luca" director Enrico Casarosa is also eagerly awaited. The story about a black cat in Venice is said to be particularly artistically ambitious and will be released in June 2027. A sequel to the award-winning film "Coco" has also been announced, which will be released in 2028 at the earliest and will once again celebrate Mexican culture and music.
Disneyland Handcrafted
Not only the future, but also the past was honored: documentary filmmaker Leslie Iwerks presented "Disneyland Handcrafted", a documentary about the construction of the first Disney park in Anaheim. The production, which will start this winter on Disney+, shows rare archive footage and pays tribute to the creativity of the engineers and craftsmen of the 1950s.
