Max (Jason Bateman) and Annie's (Rachel McAdams) weekly game nights for couples reach a whole new level when Max's charismatic brother Brooks (Kyle Chandler) organizes a murder mystery party—complete with fake gangsters and pseudo-FBI agents. When Brooks is then kidnapped, it's obviously all part of the game… right? But as the six ambitious players launch their investigation and fight tooth and nail for victory, they gradually realize that neither this "game" nor Brooks himself is what they appear to be. Over the course of this totally chaotic night, the friends find themselves in a mess they can't handle, as they're constantly caught off guard by new twists and turns. Since there are no rules, no points, and no clues as to who's actually pulling the strings here, this experience could turn out to be the most fun ever—or spell sudden doom for everyone!
