Fuoco sacro - Suche nach d. heiligen Feuer d. Gesangs
Opera evenings can be stimulating, they can be boring. Sometimes they are life-changing. Those who have seen Callas still speak of her today. They also exist in our time: singers who hit the audience in the heart. Rare they have always been and they still are today. This film introduces three of them, asks what they do, how they do it and what it triggers in us: Ermonela Jaho, Barbara Hannigan and Asmik Grigorian. They come from the most diverse cultures - Albania, Canada, Lithuania - and they couldn't be more different, but they have one thing in common: they don't spare themselves, they give more than everything on stage. They don't need the final protective shield that their colleagues don't want to do without. They merge with their stage characters and want the total experience. Only with artists like them does opera come into its own; music theater in the emphatic sense is created.
